Default Happy anniversary Scott Gomez!!!

Just checked today's boxscore and sure enough....it's anniversary time....my how time flies....only 2 more years at 5M per year.

What do you think? Second worst contract next to DiPietro?

Yep, still part of that 7yr/51.5M monstrosity. But hey, that's only a 7M+ cap hit....

Yup, and getting the contract off the books + Mcdonough has allowed the Rangers to develop into the best team in the league!

Everybody laughs and somebody made a clever website but the guy laughing the most is Gomez when he looks at his bank account.

Wasn't the yashin/islanders contract pretty bad also? I know they bought out some of it towards the end just to get rid of him, but I'm pretty sure he got a good chunk of it over the years

This.

Scott Gomez doesn't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks. He's getting $5 million per year to do jack all. If my boss offered me that kinda scratch to do nothing, I'd take it EASILY.

Good for you, Scott. Do the Gomez name proud.

There is no joy in Mudville.....Scott Gomez has been bought out;

Scott Gomez is 32 years old on the buyout date of June 15, 2012, setting the buyout ratio at 2/3 and the total buyout cost at $6,666,667 spread over 4 years. His contract was originally valued at $51,500,000 beginning in 2007 and ending in 2014, with $10,000,000 remaining from the buyout year forward.

His cap hit breakdown for Montreal, if it bought out the rest of his deal:
2012-13: $3,523,810
2013-14: $4,523,810
2014-15: $1,666,667
2015-16: $1,666,667

There may be amnesty in the next CBA, that would mean Gomez & DiPietro's contracts could get bought out without a cap hit.
