The third goal was nice by Crosby but the 2nd one was weak. I looked at my fiance and said Crosbys goals look more like Tomas Hollmstrom and Crosby isn't Holmstrom.

Ovechkins were all nice shots

A goal is a goal is a goal. Jason Blake and Dan Cleary have both made careers out of shoveling garbage.

Sid was all over out there, his teammates looked like they were asleep. Where the hell were those guys? Caps have the momentum, but a series doesn't start until the home team loses.

Third goal was okay hitting out of the air. but like you say the first 2 were weak.

so its harder to score off a rebound tap in? Then a wrist or slap from 20-30 feet out?

I guess the series start tomorrow night after a Caps 5-1 win then and course a goal is a goal we are not disputing goals were comparing the type of goals. Thx

He wanted to stop the game to ask the fans to stop throwing hats on the ice after Ovechkin scored his third goal....what an egotistical, jealous crybaby.

Egotistical - having the nerve to even suggest that to the referee in the Capitals arena

jealous - watching Ovechkin have all the fun and pull away in the series

crybaby - self explanatory.

I REALLY HOPE that Ovechkin wins a cup before Crosby...

Its also why that rule is now in place. Man I miss the old NHL, lots more fun than the current model, a lot more screwball stuff, a lot more scoring. The 1995-96 Stanley Cup Playoffs were probably the best in my lifetime. I can't remember a more exciting playoff. The only bummer was the Avs swept the Stanley Cup, but Pittsburgh v. Florida was a series for the ages.

and no one said they weren't, basically what was said is Ovechkins were prettier shots while Crosbys were not(besides the 3rd). No sour grapes here as I know both will lose in the Finals.

There should be more talk about Malkins absence in the first couple games. I can't help but laugh whenever they zoom in on his face.

Yes, some of you are disputing a "good" goal versus "bad" goal. Like I said....sour grapes from the fans of the losing team. Again...a goal is a goal, weak or not. Difficult or not. Cheap or not. Some of you Pens fans are big babies and this comes from a person who really likes the Pens, too. I am not saying that the Caps fans are any better, but come on you guys and take your favorite team's losses like a man and admit they couldn't get the job done.

That stick save he made on Crosby was the save of the postseason so far in my humblest of opinions. It seems that every few years a young goalie comes along and makes the post season his own personal playground where he dominates series after series. I personally thought it was going to be Mason this year who was going to carry his team deep into the playoffs and maybe win the whole enchilada, like Ward did a few seasons ago. But hey, Varly has been quite impressive so far and even if the Caps don't win the Cup, he surely has cemented his place as a Washington's goalie of the future. I just hope he isn't a repeat of Jim Carrey.

Did anyone see the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man's presser after tonights game? If he pulls Varlamov from tomorrow nights game, this series is as good as over...and he should be canned.

Although it looks like Varly may have turned into a pumpkin and the D is holding up about as well as a wet paper bag

Pretty sure the D didn't make him give up the 2 cupcake goals that a peewee leaguer should have stopped.

I'm not knocking the kid. He has played fantastic hockey over the last series and a half. But he is 20 years old (pretty sure) and playing behind a less than stellar defense. Add to it that the Pens have a highly explosive offense and the flood gates are bound to open sooner or later. 8 goals in the last 2 games might just do that. But like I said before, he needs to be in the net if the Caps want to win the series. Jose will not get it done.
