Going at someones knees head on is a risky play for the guy doing it as well so I doubt Ovie did it intentionally. He wasn't even looking down for crying out loud. He risks hurting his own knee as well on that if he catches a rut in the ice. If he wanted to take out Gonchar he wouldn't need to leg whip him.

Ovie probably isn't getting suspended, shouldn't get suspended and the seires moves on. You guys should do the same.

Bammer, I hope you know that my reference about being a "typical Flyer fan" was just a ribbing. But you know damn well that if Crosby would have done that to Mike Green or Richards, you and everyone else would be calling for his head on a platter.

As per your points about the infamous "nut punch," I said nothing in defense of what Sidney did. It was a terrible move on his part and I would have agreed with him being punished for it. I don't recall the Cooke hit that you are talking about, so I can't speak on it. The Kunitz cross check to Varly should have earned him a suspension for a game. I don't recall it being brought up until now, so I never had the chance to comment on it.

And how did this discussion turn to putting up bad photoshops of Crosby? Are some of you really that bored that you feel the need to post them? I guess I'll follow suit and post my personal favorite.

Exactly..if that's Mike Richards or Jeff Carter, he would have a fit as well. (I would have used a Flyer defenseman as a reference, but I don't think they would actually miss any of them if they were injured because they're not very good anyway)

The difference is Mike Richards played the 2nd half of the season and the playoffs with two separated shoulders and no one knew it. I don't think the crybaby thing is appropriate.

Don't know much about hockey, but I saw it live, and it happened so fast and right after the puck was passed that it seemed impossible for him to plan out a dirty hit, might have been a bit dirty, but not enough to warrant a suspension. Also it seemed like Gonchar was the one who left his leg trailing behind.

Wow.. You are a EDIT. I'm sorry I don't work for a big bad carpenter's union. I am doing more important things with my life such as getting a degree in accounting.

And no, I cannot afford to buy my own box of Superlative, but I have always loved the look of those cards and this is probably the only way me and a few other members will ever get a hold of a few of them.

Maybe somebody I too can drop out of college, join a union and buy a nice trailer park home so I can buy nice boxes of hockey cards.
