Default Is now the time to invest in Ovechkin?

I know the caps squeezed into the playoffs but with such a bad year (for his standards) is now the time to invest? Or did his recent hot streak remind everyone hes OV and keep his prices up?

When a player falls and recovers, I've noticed his cards don't usually rebound. If you can get a Young Guns for $35-40, it may be worth the hold, and of course low numbered autos from The Cup are low risk, but I think AO's cards are a mid-level value at best.

I think Stamkos is undervalued at the moment. He's every bit the goal scorer Ovechkin as and he's Canadian, which is a plus in hockey world.

Invest in Tavares. You'll pay half as much for a yg and substantially less for a Cup RC. Plus Tavares is going to be a star, much better than ovechkin IMO.

Right now I'd be buying 08-09 UD before it goes nuclear. Stamkos and Giroux YGs in 5 years? Solid. Blaster cases can be had for only 209, buy two, grade them up and enjoy.

Something else to consider is that Ovechkin's rookie year is the same as Crosby's, so as long as Crosby is healthy and the marquee player for that year it will hurt the value of Ovi's cards. Then again, as wax prices go up and the supply of unopened wax dries up, it will help the value of all rookies in the set.

I also agree with the earlier poster that it is hard for a "once superstar" to see his card values return to their highest levels after they dipped.

And there's a case in point shown by the example where someone dumped a rookie for $150 that once was $600. People are worried that Ovi will never get back to his earlier levels, so his cards can be had extra cheap. That puts more supply out there and is an impediment to prices going back up.

his sp rookie was never 600 in the last 3 yrs, it has been 350-400 consistant prior to this yr and if you sold one under 250 thats just crazy.

Every blaster case I have opened has had either a Crosby header or a Art card in it, that's $20-30 right there too. Was paying $110 per on them last year, should have bought em all. Grr.
