I've never been a huge hockey fan but this series was SUPERB!!!

I really enjoyed it.

But I have to say this thread was very entertaining....back and forth with both fanbases....This is why I'm a sports fan

I really hope the Cats can beat the Devils....there's a chance they might play the Flyers

I hope that someday the Blue Jackets might be decent so that I can actually care about a playoff series instead of having to live vicariously through other teams.

There's nothing better then the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

My brother in law and my sister planned their wedding two years ago around the playoffs. Hockey is way more important then their honeymoon lol

Lol. My fiancee's cousin got married the night that the Pens beat the Red Wings for the Cup a few years back. Half of the people in attendance watched them win in a back room on a little tv as the groom came in and said they were going to have the Bridal dance. Not smart to get married on that day.

Thanks for Jeff friggin' Carter...maybe I should be rooting against the Flyers now that you bring that up.

Refs are the reasons the Flyers won and they're all a bunch of punks, and you Philly fans are a bunch of bandwagon dbags.

Yeah, there was no handing of anything. The Pens didn't lose, the Flyers won. They set the tone from the start and never looked back. And I am a Penguins fan and Pittsburgh native. Great series.

One thing I really like about the Stanley Cup Playoffs is the SHEER UNPREDICTABILITY!!!

Just look at this year....both #1 seeds are on the ropes!

The Penguins were the "Favorites" from the East....and the FREAKING Florida Panthers are ONE win away from their first series win in 16 Years

Yeah....The Stanley Cup Playoffs are MAGICAL!

Tremendous team effort today. Flyers FINALLY played a full 60 minutes and you could see once that 4th goal went in the Pens were stunned.

Superb game from start to finish by the Flyers future captain Giroux. Hard clean check on Crosby and a wicked wrister on his first shift got the bench and the barn rocking.

Still a whole lot more work to be done so I hope they're not satisfied with getting rid of their cross state rivals. If all the higher seeded teams go down the Flyers could actually have home ice advantage in the East. I normally don't like long layoffs between games for this team but the Flyers could use the extra days off to hopefully get some bodies back.

The hand shake line seemed to go with out a hitch although you could tell Lavy and Disco Dan can't stand each other with that quick dead fish. I was thinking maybe we'd get a Steve Thomas - Keith Jones type handshake where Thomas told Jonesy who agitated him all series long , "I swear on my kids, the next time we play I'm going to f'n kill you."

Where's the Penguins fans? One showed up, and the rest just went and hid in their hole until next year.

That is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to fans of teams. You talk a big game when your team does well, that's normal and expected. But when the team doesn't do too well, you just go away. I hate it when fans do that, and it's like that in every sport. What ever happened to supporting your team no matter what? I'm sure most people do when their team isn't doing well, but come out and show. And don't be such a homer, every team does wrong at some point.

End rant, and about the 5th times i've talked about this in this thread cause how most of the Pitt fans have been in this thread, have been the bandwagon, fair weather fans.

That's why the NHL playoffs are so much fun. The NBA, you can almost predict who gets to the final four.

Gratz to the Flyers. Its a very disappointing loss epecially after the late season surge we had. Flyers saved their best game for last. On another note, a lil more sportsmanship in this thread would have gone a long way. Spitting venom and bile at each other went beyond the good natured smack talk that I would expect from enthusiastic knowledgable fans here on Blowout.. It's very difficult to even post at this point cuz im bummed the Pens lost. I felt it important though to show that this "blind, homer, bandwagon jumping, idiot, moron (feel free to add any I've forgotten to list)" has a bit of a class. Best of luck to the Flyers in the next round.

Not if the Sens win tomorrow. Then if the panthers win it's Sens/Cats. That'd be a good one!

Congrats to the Flyers and all of their fans. And to those out there supporting the Penguins, well, HA

Bummer. I didn't think the Pens would be able to pull it off, and they weren't. They seriously need to revamp their defense and get a legit backup to push Fleury. Gonna be a long off season for us Pens fans, 3 consecutive disappointing post seasons. Will be interesting to see what happens. And to some of the people in this thread............you're SO BIG AND TOUGH on a message board. Takes SO much courage to run your mouth on the internet. Good for you.

Go Panthers!

I missed all but just a few minutes of the game today, but did get a chance to see Gustaff's goal.

Obviously I'm glad the series is over, but it's extra sweet given the opponent and Crosby's actions/comments early in the series. Wish I could have seen the post-series handshake...had to be hard for some of those guys to look him in the eye and shake his hand after this series.

Anyway ... whew. Game 7 would have induced an ulcer in many of us for sure.

I see it as being akin to someone taking out Michael Jordan after his first championship.

That being said, congrats to the Flyers...

Ha! Flyers playoff hockey almost caused my first fight as a newlywed.

We were honeymooning in Maui the week of April 26, 1998. If you do a history check (which I will NOT do) that should coincide with a Flyers/Sabres series. And it was one they lost, I believe.

...did I mention playoff hockey starts around noon or 1PM when you are in Hawaii?

Philly fans are passionate, and no one can say otherwise.
This thread is 4 to 5 times longer than any other playoff thread and I'm not the least bit surprised.
