HUGE hit on hossa. Haven't seen a replay. Would a non-homer please tell me whether or not the hit was dirty?
This game could get good.

Just saw a replay. Didn't look like he threw an elbow at the head. Suspension worthy: yes. Severe suspension worthy: not really.

. It doesn't seem like it was that dirty. Dirty, yes. I don't think Torres' intent was to injure though. I thnk he'll get either nothing or 2-3 games. IMO it wasn't similar to the Seabrook hit. In that hit (if I remember correctly) he went right in with his elbow, straight to the head. This was a high shoulder that caught Hossa in the head I guess.

This league has become an outright laughing stock. Even the national media thinks so.
Also, the puck wasn't anywhere near Hossa. I believe Hossa passed the puck, made two or 3 strides and then Torres hits him. Marian Hossa stretchered off ice after hit from Raffi Torres - YouTube Maybe they might actually do something about all this once someone dies on the ice. The NHL is a joke. |

Shanahan also factors in injury when making suspensions. |

Bob McKenzie of tsn touched on this. At the point of contact Torres was still on his feet. He didn't jump into the hit.

Two effing years in a row this b!tch ass POS has done this in the playoffs to the Blackhawks. Call me a homer, but that was total bush league. Hossa had to be taken off on a stretcher. Not only did we lose Hossa, but Bollig as well with a game misconduct for going after that POS. Basically only have 3 lines to finish the game.
Go Hawks!

6-10 games based on the past history and the clear late charge. Have to say that watching Hossa leave on a stretcher with police escort to hospital will not help Torre's case any.
If they want really send a message, it will be for the rest of the playoffs ( whatever that may or may not be). |

How do the refs not call him for charging? A hit like that should be 10+ games, but with Shanahan handing out the suspensions it will probably be like 3 games. Knowing Torres' reputation it wouldn't surprise me if he was trying to knock Hossa out of the game.

I doubt we'll see Torres for the rest of this series. Repeat offender status, all the negative media lately, Hossa carted of the ice and probably out for awhile doesn't bode well for Mr. Torres. Shanny obviously makes rulings on results because he even admitted he calls the team to check on the players condition.
Wait and see. James Neal, 40 goal scorer, only got one game yesterday and that was for trying to knock off Giroux's head. He pretty much got away with what he did to Couts because, luckily, he failed in his leaving his feet attempt to shoulder him in the head. Exact same type of hit yet the puck was gone a whole lot longer then it was in the Torres hit on Hossa but you watch, Torres probably won't play another game in this series because he's a repeat offender and not a 40 goal scorer. Not sure why Shanny doesn't factor in OBVIOUS intent when a guy fails on putting another player out like Neal did ? So if Couts and Giroux, the Flyers two best players in this series were both out for a few games then Shanny would have given Neal a few more games off as well ? I thought Colin Campbell was bad but what a f'n joke Shanny turned out to be this year.
