A person locally approached me in the store recently

He CLAIMED to have a hockey stick and programs from gretzky's RC year in a game played against Birmingham.

After reviewing the items and weighing the facts I have sent him to Christies and Sothebys

In addition the Hockey hall of Fame in Ontario attempted to obtain the stick as a donation.

So,those of you die in the wool Hockey History fans, be on the look out for the auction

Very Nice I still have a few KOHO Sticks, but not one used by Gretzky! Nice haul!

So this would be a pre-NHL stick? I have several of his NHL gamers and have never seen Wayne use a Koho in the NHL. If this is pre-NHL and proven legit, it will sell for a ton! Do you have a better shot of the taped handle? From your angle, it looks pretty close to the ones I have from his early Oiler days. Before he switched to the "Jack the Gripper".

Joe said he was picked up at 16 or 17 by a team in Indiana, if I am remembering right, and at some point that season played in Birmingham, Alabama where Joe whom had season tickets seated behind the visitors box, was given the stick by Gretzky during the game.
He approached me looking for money or value. I told him if all was said and done tht the value would be borderline silly. He was looking to get 3500-4500 as someone told him years back it was worth 6k as a memo piece.
I told him that IMO that piece,if validated as legitimate,would sell somewhere closer to 9000-15000 on a good hit and suggested he consult an auction house and start the process rather than sell it to me or any other sports guys
