Default Saku Koivu to the Ducks

So they trade for Gomez and they let Koivu go? No logic there? I'm betting Koivu ends the season with more goals and points than Gomer next season.

Koivu is old.Trading for Gomez made no sense since his contract sucks, but he'll be as productive in Montreal as Koivu in Anaheim. (In the past 6 years, Gomez has outscored Koivu in five of them... including the past two years, in which Gomez has been playing for the offense depleted Rangers. Heck, he lead the Rangers in points last year.) Trading for Gomez OR bringing back Koivu... neither was the answer. Koivu and Selanne, fellow Fins, should be a fun combo though.

(Despite not thinking Koivu is a huge loss to the Habs, I like the signing for the Ducks. They need secondary scoring like no other. After the Ryan/Getzlaf/Perry line, they got no scoring from anywhere last year. If Koivu and Selanne click, that could be a huge boost for the Ducks.)

Finally they got rid of this guy!!! I'm in Montreal and I'm SO Happy to see him leave.
Please note that we hire Koivu in 1993 after the cup and this is the last time we won it...lol. Just kidding, but still happy the see new blood coming in the team.

I'm not a Ducks fan, but I am happy to have Koivu playing in SoCal.

Koivu will be better with Selanne.

The Wild had a better offer on the table and gave him the chance to play with his brother, which was said to be a wish his parents had. Yet he turned it down for, what I think, is a one year chance to get the Cup. I could see him going to MN next year.

Not only does he get a better shot at the Cup, but he gets to play with Selanne which is probably the second best thing to playing with his brother (with whom he wouldn't even be a linemate).
