NHL/NHLPA = Lucy; Hockey Fans = Charlie Brown. Again. I will go out on a limb and predict some contraction in the NHL by the time play resumes in the 2017/18 season. Just totally depressing.

Why is it the more and more I see of Fehr, the more I feel he's the reason nothing is happening? Is he getting paid for evey day that the lockout continues?

I just wish a mediator can come in, make a proposal that's fair for both sides and be done with it. At this point, nothing is going to get done because each sides wants everything in their favor and now their egos are getting in the way. Bring in a third party, sign the fair deal that's proposed and stop bitching. It's the only way this gets done because these 2 sides are completely inept when it comes to negotiating.

I realize that Gary is the whipping boy for league problems but if you think for one second he is the reason why talks broke down you're delusional.

Fehr is purposely stalling and playing games in a risky attempt to frustrate the owners to the point they snap and capitulate to the PA demands. He made a huge, HUGE miscalculation when he infuriated the moderate owners yesterday.

The owners are no longer playing games. Fehr will ultimately get tossed by his guys and settle for far less that what they could have had two days ago. No way in hell all 700+ players are willing to fall on the sword and it's laughable Fehr thinks he can keep that many guys with such varying income levels in line the longer this goes.

I think this confirms no NHL hockey this season

I dont think that closes the door on things, this cancellation would be admistrative function of the fallout in talks from last Thursday. We are getting closer to the poop canning the entire season should a deal not be reached in the next 4-6 weeks. Check out the 94-95 lockout for a model of what is likely to occur, 36-48 games and a regular playoff season from April till early June--hopefully...........

I remember the 94-95 set-up with a 48 game season, but I don't see that happening this year. There was a glimmer of hope last week, but it looks as though any progress made is gone.

I don't see any reason for hope or optimism as of right now.

No season Buttman and Fairy will screw things up because this has nothing to do with players or owners. It is a B##CH fight between these two people. For some odd reason both the owners and the players a drinking the cool aide from both of them.

I've heard Fehr has told some players that if they hold out longer they can get a better deal

Word on the twitter is that today's meetings were pointless. The league stands by its proposal and will not budge.

Over the next week or so the NHLPA may end up coming together and vote on the current offer on the table, which would likely pass as (most of) the players just want to play.

true enough but back in 90-91 the average NHL salary was far below those of the other leagues. I mean way below.

If thats true then why did a lot of leg work get done when Buttman and Fairy weren't in the room . Buttman is telling Owners what they want to hear and Fairy is doing the same to players.
