NHL Lockout over??

My local news channel just said at the end of the sports segment that he just heard that the NHL out of Boston is supposed to announce the next day or two that the lockout is over. Has anybody heard anything about this. I find it hard to believe the local news guy who is one step below stupid would know this before others

We'll see how the player/owner meeting goes, but I read this article last night and really found no supporting argument in it.

fix it for you

TSN was making a big deal out of this. There's no evidence that it's anywhere near ending, though. I don't think this thing will end this season, and it could fall into 2013-14 as well.

howethegreat 12-04-2012 03:49 PM

no chance it will end in the near future

i am a huge hockey fan, go redwings!, but i could care less if they play this season. both sides are idiotic for not learning their lesson in 94-95

04/05 BOLTS GOT SCREWED OUT OF A SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP !!!!!! Just like the Kings will get screwed this yr. I wish the players and owners would fix this . Owners blaming players players blaming owners. Thats all this is But i think Bettman and Fehr are the biggest to blame on this.

Players/owners met for 5+ hours already today, are taking a dinner break, and will continue discussions again tonight.

The twitter rumor mill says HUGE progress has been made, but who knows.

The same twitter rumor milk that claims Tom Cruise dies every 3 minutes? :)

I'll wait for a reliable source to get excited, but the fact they've met for so long does have me much more optimistic than I was two weeks ago.

As much as I appreciate your scenic avatars, I think the implication that NHL could be read as a synonym for its pathetic little commish was clear, no? :D

Matthew Barnaby @MattBarnaby3636

Just got a text from owners side that his guess is season starts on dec 26th.

Oilers1980 12-05-2012 08:56 PM

all signs point to a season....starting soon.

gotta say I'd be relieved - already 2 feet of snow on the ground here since before Halloween, cabin fever is going to kick in big time, may as well have some Hockey to watch!

Jesus, two feet? We're getting nothing here in Ottawa!

The cold weather has me wanting to drive out to SBP just about every night, it's nice that I'll finally get to see some decent hockey (stupid 67's can't win a game!).

I'm a little upset, though, that Nugent-Hopkins, Scheifele, and a few others won't be available for the juniors. We should still have a decent team, but they'll be key losses!

no way is that going to happen. That is just 3 weeks away and they still do not have a confirmed deal, still trying to work things into place. Once the deal is in place...once in place there are still so many other steps to happen before the first official NHL game

Oilers1980 12-06-2012 01:35 AM

Tomorrows the day...games this month. Gonna happen!

I'm watching the press conference right now and it doesn't sound good at all. It feels as though any progress that had been made is now gone :(

well - that wasn't good.

Bettman was piiiiised - and while I don't like the guy, I gotta say I agree more with him.

the major things stopping this are length of agreement (league wants 10 years, players 5) and contract max length - league wants 5 years max (7 if same team) and players want 8.

Gotta say, as a fan I am all about a 10 year CBA and a 5 (7) year max contract length - both of these, regardless of who they favor between NHL and NHLPA, favor the fans and this BS we have to deal with. I don't want to watch a CBA for another 10 years, and I would like an incentive for my favorite players - the ones who's jersey's I buy - to sign with the home team.

Brutal - today should have been a good day.
