I was trying to get this card from a guy for some time and finally got it. It was a redemption and I redeemed it about two weeks ago and it has already arrived! I just wish that upper deck would have centered the patch better, but it is still a great looking card! I have only just recently started collecting hockey cards and only have around 14 auto cards in my collection, so this is definitely the centerpiece!

First of all, awesome card indeed!
I agree with you though, very poor job by UD of not centering that logo better on a 1/1 card.

Nice card. I collect hockey autos from player who played in the 60s, 70s,80s and 90s. I also collect select players from the modern era. I only collect autos and patches. That is a fantastic piece you have there from one of the greatest players ever. Anyone who can come back from Hodgkins disease and win the MVP in a league as physical as the NHL is a special player who only comes along once in a generation.I am a Rangers fan but I used to watch Mario play every chance I got. He was phenomenal.

Unbelievable card. The centering of the shield doesn't bother me so much, it may have been all they could do to get an older jersey and have enough to actually get a shield of his in there. Even with a tiny bit of off-centering, still an amazing card. You can't be upset about that at all!

Thanks for all the positive comments! I used to love watching him play when I was younger.
Since I just started collecting hockey, I decided to look up stats on some hall of famers and was amazed to see how many more games the people played that have more points than him on the all time list. It looks to me that if he was healthy throughout his career and played around the same amount of games that the other greats did that he would probably be second all time in scoring behind gretzky. I mean he is 7th on the all time scoring list but he only played 915 games. Look at how many games the other 6 players ahead of him played: 6. Yzerman- 1514 5. Dionne- 1348 4. Francis- 1731 3. Howe- 1767 2. Messier- 1756 1. Gretzky- 1487 I know stats aren't always the deciding factor in a players collectibility, but to me this along with watching him when I was a kid, was enough to make me want several high end cards of him. |
