Default Theo Yakupov

Know some people won't like it....but it's been hard to be positive for a few years.

This was awesome after a terrible goal called back 45 seconds earlier that should have tied the game.

place went nuts.

welcome to the bigs kid:

I know some wont like this, what he did after the goal. I stayed up to watch the end of this game and when I saw this is made me get off my couch and throw a couple fist pumps.....and Im not even an Oilers fan. Gives hockey a lively sense of spirit and emotion.

Kid has alot of energy. He will fit in great with the Oilers. I really feel that they will be contenders this year. I was going to watch that game last night but fell asleep. Now I wish I would have. I think he will have to watch out in the next few games as a "tough guy" might go after him to welcome him to the NHL. I agree with both of you that some may not like it, but after not having hockey for so long and being a huge hockey fan, I enjoyed that.

Why would anybody not like it? He scored he gets to cells however he wants!

Not a fan of the celebration. Didn't like it when Theo did it, and don't like it now.

Regardless, it's nice to see Edmonton pick up the W. First goal should've counted for sure. Kings looked to have gotten the Lord Stanley treatment.

A little overdramatic, but i like the enthusiasm. Imagine if he ever scores the game winner in the Cup Finals, what would he do then?

Between the ridiculous over the top celebration and shooting pucks into nets clear after the whistle blows earlier in the game, the clock is already ticking for someone to lay him out and teach him a lesson.

Has nothing to do with not liking fun. Just have fun when it actually means something. Fleury beating the Oilers in overtime of Game 6? Run down the ice, flop around, and slide into the boards. Gretzky netting 802? Do the running on ice thing. (My favorite) Selanne destroying Bossy's rookie goal record? Break out the machine gun. Scoring your second career goal in regular season game 3? Spare me the full ice celebration. That's all I'm saying. I'm sure either the coaching staff or a "vet" like Ryan Whitney told him he might want to cut some of that out. If not for his own sake and safety, but also for his teammates. Tremendous talent though, there's no denying that. This year's rookie class is already looking good!

Respect the game.

I'll leave it at that.

Glad he did it - any publicity for hockey right now is good.
As for respecting the game....things have changed and guys like Don Cherry should get over themselves - if a Canadien did it, it would be fun, but a Russian, its disrespect. And no disrespect to you at all BostonNut, I'm not by any means saying you are Don Cherry (who I find very entertaining, but I also find the WWE entertaining as well)

1st goal should of counted anyway, dude got stuck in Quick's pads and he was trying to get out, and the celebration was fine, good to see Hockey back and going!

I agree with BillInDallas. I thought it was an over the top, selfish celebration.

I think the team needs that spark of energy to get them to the playoffs, any Oiler fan would've done the same thing since they've sucked for so long.

Take celebrations out of hockey and this will become the NFL.

Love the Oilers new kiddie corp but that's a bit over the top for that goal. A rebound tap in and he goes ape sh*t like that ? I could see if he Ovie'd it from flat on his back or went end to end through a few guys like they were pylons and got amped like that but jeez kid, act like you expect to score a few more in your career.

Wow...I didnt see anything wrong with the celebration. He scored a game tying goal with seconds left not halfway through the 2nd Period. Love this kid! Love the Oilers!

It's his first game winning goal and he was excited, I'm sure he will get a 'talking' to from the vets and coaches about being a little over the top and ask him to tone it down.

This Oiler team has done a great job with draft picks and will be a contender when they get a goalie as that will continue to hurt them.

Didn't bother me but after reading all these posts it sure is nice to be debating something that happened during a game rather than deciding who you'd rather punch in the face....Gary or Don.

Hockey's a self correcting game. If it was over the top he'll pay for it on the ice and it'll be done with.

I didn't see a problem with it, why can't players show emotion without it being considered showing up the other team?? It's not like he shot at the goalie with his stick

And of course, TSN has to do a ten minute piece on it the day after it happens.

Is it possible for TSN to talk about anything but hockey?

Some guys needs Randy`s title `Bitter, Jaded and Disillusioned old fart`

4.7 seconds left, game tying goal, place went NUTS. Oh yes he`s 19 years old also.

I love it, and dislike it at the same time.

Part of me says "Wow, awesome situation!"

The other part knows that it doesn't really have a place in the sport. Also, he skated past his excited teammates to the other end of the floor. Why not just let them dogpile you right there?

I love the clip regardless.
