Couldn't agree more with everything you said - especially the part about playing the puck. Martin Brodeur he ain't.

I'm not a Fleury hater, but my biggest problem isn't neccessarily with him, it's with the people who LOVE the guy. Many people feel he's one of the league's elite goalies, which he is not. Is he a good goalie? Yes. Could be benefit from a team that has a better system and is better defensively? Absolutely. However, he's starting to put up much better numbers the past few weeks, as not suprisingly, the team in front of him is playing much better defensive hockey.

My biggest reason for being down on him personally is the soft goals he lets in. All goalies allowe a soft goal or two from time to time, but MAF allows it to happen WAY too often. He'll make one of the most athletic, impressive saves, then follow it up by allowing a goal on a shot that 5 out of 8 mite goalies would stop. I also look back to his last 3 playoff performances:

09-10 : Let in some very bad goals vs Ottawa in the 1st round, then was just atrocious in Games 6 + 7 in the Montreal series, allowing a goal on the first shot in both. Ugly, ugly goalkeeping. .891 Save % overall.

10-11 : Yes, I know the team didn't have Sid + Geno. Fleury still played poorly, posting an .899 Save %, and allowed some soft goals.

11-12 : No need to even discuss that.

You're right about his puck handling abilities. He appeared to have actually improved on this during the off season, as he hasn't looked awful this season handling the puck. Last night though, HWOAAH!! Bad!!

LeBrun reporting the Pens have acquired Douglas Murray from the Sharks. If so, this fits perfectly with what Shero wanted. Veteran grinder on the wing (Morrow) and a left-handed, physical D-man.

Gave up two second round picks - pretty steep price, but it looks like we're all in to win this year. So now we have 9 defensemen when Letang gets healthy and 14 forwards when Malkin gets healthy. Shero can't be done trading yet.

Don't think so - one of the second round picks is conditional on him resigning with the Pens.

Now would be the time to trade him since he's been hot the past few games. Bigger issue is what to do with the D. I guess Despres will be sitting again, which I hate to see. Wouldn't be surprised if they traded Engelland since Murray brings a lot of the same qualities Engellend does. I wouldn't mind seeing them trade Niskanen either to make room for Despres. Trade them for draft picks - they can't add any more players this year or they'll run into the same issue with numbers.

Yep, paying the price for the future, but it shows the organization is serious about a Cup run. I'm completely ok w/ this.

I'm betting Niskanen is the next D-man to go. Hate to see him go, but am anxious to see what they can get if it goes down.

Was a good game last night. Glad our Pens ended it quick in OT. MAF played great last night, and the goal from Fraudy Giroux was a simple mistake. He took the pass back and shot right away and scored. Didn't like the late hit on Duper at the end of the game though. Typical Philly team, doesn't like when they can't win and plays dirty. Maybe the last time we see the Cryers this year. Unless they start winning every game and get the last spot in the playoffs. If they do I feel great about playing them in the first round or any round for that matter.

Nice.

Yeah, it was a well played game by both teams. MAF was solid, and Bryz played probably his best game of the year. Up until last week I had still picked the Flyers to claw back into the playoffs, but w/ 17 games to go, and teams (presumably) needing between 52-54 points to squeak into the 8th seed, the Flyers at 28 points, need 12ish wins to make it, and get a lot of help. It's still possible, but it's gonna be extremely difficult for them.

Did the Penguins really get Doug Murray from the Sharks? I knew about Morrow, but didnt hear about the Murray trade. I was kind of hoping Jagr could come back with the Pens, but dont see it happening now that Morrow is with the Pens.

Yep, it happened. As much as I was a huge Jagr fan until he signed w/ Philly, I don't think his attitude and ego would mesh in Pittsburgh. Still, wouldn't have been heartbroken to see him there!

Malkin and Letang still out for tonight vs MTL.

Brenden Morrow skating on 2nd line w/ Justin Deffrey (on purpose) and James Neal. Anxious to see how he looks.

Letang played tonight. Pens held on to make it 13 in a row. TK ran into Fleury at the end of the second period. Hopefully Fleury is able to come back next game.

That was probably the biggest hit TK threw all year. Meloche and Letang both said Fleury should be fine. I hope so - he's been stellar over the past few weeks, and let's face it, whether or not you think he's an elite goalie, the Pens are only going as far as he takes them.

Letang is out 2 weeks now and Fleury will backup Vokoun tomorrow night. Despres is recalled.

Letang is out the dreaded 7-10 days. No decision has been made on whether or not Fleury can back-up Vokoun tomorrow night, but it has not been ruled out.

7-10 days in Pittsburgh Penguins organization talk is a minimum of three weeks. Just allow him to be 100% for the playoffs!

Hope Fleury's prognosis is not the dreaded C word.

Keep the hammer down, Pens!

Don't even say C-word!!! I dread that word the way women dread the other C word!

Despres just had one of the shortest demotions in NHL history. Oh well, he should have learned by now that when the Pens send you down you might not want to catch the first bus.

Of course the Habs/Bruins game has to go to OT. I dont care who wins, just don't want to loser to get that extra point.

Yeah, the OT is a bad break, but this game is so good I don't even care.

Iginla to the Penguins, dang...

Bob McKenzieVerified account ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

Jarome Iginla traded to PIT for PIT's 1st rounder in 2013 and college prospects Kenneth Agostino (Yale) and Ben Hanowski (St. Cloud State).
