Nice score, given the condition, I say it gets graded. Your pretty much wanting the big hit, and think the surest way to get it is to open it.

I dont collect hockey, so I have NO clue what year these are, but still, where is the fun in not opening them? Go for it man!

I'm not 100% sure on the year either, but thinking 77/78 or 78/79, both good years..if its 79/80 oh my...but at that point I'd never risk it...would love to own a Gretz RC..but no way would I jeporadize those packs if they are in the condition you say they are...just to valuable....but also understand the desire to rip. But also feel buyers remorse quite often

Hmm, I dont know then, in one sense Id say grade and sell ... then again, I personally would be way too tempted to rip and try and score a nice gradeable Gretzky rookie

Dont forget you'll loose one card per pack due to the gum....while nice, you want dissapointment..open a pack and find the Great One adhered to a piece of gum.

i opened up a box of the lemieux rookie year. had the problem with the gum. but they came off whole ......... not in pieces. they came off pretty easily and didnt really leave much of a stain behind

That appears to be 1979-80 and a tray pack too. Get it graded, as long as its sealed its worth $600+ on its own.

For the love of all that is good don't rip that pack. A Topps Gretzky rookie sells fro $250-300 raw. This sealed tray pack is worth a lot more than that.
