Default John Haun / BEST OF HOCKEY 2013/Leaf Trading Cards.

Hi all,
My name is John Haun I've been a Non-sport sketch card artist for the past 5 years If you would like to see examples
of my art click on this link http://johnhaunle.deviantart.com/
Leaf trading cards contacted me with an opportunity to create sketch cards for the 2013 best of Hockey project.
I was happy to do so!

Thanks Kopper!

Have to say that I have visited 2 or three sports card sites, viewed about 12 different box breaks and have kept a close eye on eBay every day, and out of all of that I still have not seen one of my cards pulled yet?
If anyone see one pulled and they have the time please let me know.

I pulled one of your Justice League sketches a few years back of Martian Manhunter. Unfortunately I am moving my master set Rittenhouse Justice League of America Ultimate Master set FS to come up with some funds (hoping to put it towards Disney for the kids)

I wanted to ask you it seems that the card is textured. Not that I expect you to remember every sketch you do but I always wondered if that was supposed to be stars or something else.

Are you planning on going to the Philly show in the near future? Met you there around 2 years ago.

Keep up the good work!

Nice work John, I'm somewhat familiar with your work from other sets and was happy to see you on the artist list for Leaf hockey! How many cards did you do? I'm in the same boat, haven't seen any of mine surface yet, I drew 25. I'm thinking I heard the print run was around 1800, so I guess that means mine will only show up 1 in 72 if those numbers are accurate. If you did a similar number, that's probably why you haven't seen any yet. There are a few artists who apparently did hundreds each, so that's why we're seeing tons from them but not seeing any of ours.

That's true. I did 37 cards for the release and I've seen maybe 5 of mine pop up. Most of the ones I've seen are the ones from the artists who did the highest numbers.

Just keep in mind hockey collectors are finicky type of peeps. Price is starting to drop, I bet when this hits closer to $200 a box we'll see more emerge.

haha, all you gotta do is complain! Just watched an online break and your Hobey Baker was pulled. Very cool. The breaker was impressed as well, as soon as he opened it he said "oh this is a really cool sketch!"

Hi all,
Thanks for all of your comments.

-ifish73- Yes it's a burst of stars and the texture is from me using thicker paint
very different from marker sketches. Have a great time at Disney!
I had a great time that year at the philly show and have since contacted them with the interest of doing the show again and was told that my name was not big
enough to draw in fans. He was very nice about it and explained that he was inviting the most requested artist I guess that makes sense. Thanks again!

-bradu- Thanks for the info about the print run.
I only did 20 cards Vs artist that did 100 cards it now makes sense.
Didn't mean to complain, I'm just itching to see some of my cards pulled, as
a sketch card artist that's the most fun for me!
Thanks again!

-Rinkwraith- I never worked on a project that cost so much to the collector.
I thought the 3D Star Wars set was high at $75 a box, and you could almost build a full set from one box.

I don't know that there's a video of it...I just happened to be watching live. It was on blogtv and they just shut down that website (yesterday was the last day, I believe). It was done by blowouttv if that helps.

We have 2 cases of Best of Hockey on the way and we plan on opening at least a box or 2. If we pull one of your sketches I will be sure to let you know! You do some nice work.

Hi EGUTHRIE and MRMIDWAY

Glad you guys like my cards.

Actually I haven't done a Gordie Howe, In an earlier post I accidentally typed his name instead of Brendan Shanahan. Sorry for the confusion.
I have four returns for this set.
2 are done (Paul Newman from Slap Shot) & (Evgeni Malkin)
The other 2 return cards will be (Gordie Howe) & (Sidney Crosby) when all 4 cards are done I will have to send them to Leaf for approval Once I have them back I will list them on EbAY, I hope you guys get to bid on one!

My time is limited now because I'm also working on 2 other Non-Sport sets.
This is a list of the cards that I turned in for this set, I only did 20 cards.

King Clancy
Nail Yakupov
Pelle Lindbergh
Sidney Crosby
Bobby Orr
2 on 1 card guy lafleur/wayne gretzky
Herb Brooks
Hobey Baker
Lord Stanley
Mario Lemieux
Mark Messier
Patrick Roy
Steve Yzerman
Maurice Richard
Dream Team
Brendan Shanahan
Brett Hull
Joe Sakic
Alexander Ovechkin
Tim Horton

KOPPER:
The Crosby image I used in my ID photo is one of my sketch cards for this set.
