Default Capitals Trade

Can someone who knows Hockey (not me) please tell me if this was a good trade?

CSN Washington ‏@CSNwashington 16m
It's official. RT @SergeyKocharov: Capitals Acquire Martin Erat and Michael Latta from Nashville for Forsberg

From twitter feed.

I think it depends on how you look at it. Forsberg is an excellent prospect whose ceiling is well above a player of Erat's caliber. However, Erat's is a proven, solid NHL'er who has had some offensive successes on a defensive Nashville team. I don't like how Washington gave up so quickly on their best prospect specifically because I don't think they're ready to contend at the moment.

Stupid trade from Washington's perspective.
Forsberg was just drafted 11th overall 9 months ago and his upside is pretty high!

I'm just mad that Edmonton didn't make a move for forsberg, we could have given more than Erat.

Thanks guys, thats what I was afraid of. The Caps made a big stink of this trade and called it a "don't miss" announcement. Sounds like it was a big miss.

Not a huge fan of the trade. Forsberg's ceiling is very high and the Caps were really lucky he fell down to 11 in the draft. As far as Erat he is what the Capitals need in a 2nd line winger that can pair up with Ribero, but at 31 he isn't worth the price of Forsberg.
