I'm still trying to figure what Saad did to get a penalty.

This X10000000. Should have been a delayed penalty on Detroit if anything. Absolute bull.

Howard was solid all series and then he lets that weiner past him....what a sad way to lose. Good luck hawks you better not squander the gift you were given by detroit.

Very simple - he hauled down Zetterberg and created the opportunity for the scoring chance - tough call at the time, but defensible in the sense that it was totally by the book. Not the greatest goal for the Wings to give up in OT, but in it went - that's what happens when you don't put a team away when up 3-1 in a series. Hopefully the Wings youngsters got some good playoff experience - they overachieved this year, but expectations will be higher next year.

Man, the Wings choked it away. 3-1 series lead and blew it, that hurts.

Great series! Wings are are gonna be real good for the next few years. Young and very talented. Now I hope the Hawks win the cup again!

The Hawks were not "given" anything by Detroit...... Fell behind 3-1 and fought their #@#@#@ off to win the next three.....

if that were the case the play should've been blown dead as soon as the Hawks touched the puck, which would've been as soon as the penalty occurred..... Instead, the play was let to go on until the Hawks scored (as you can see by the fans reactions in the background)..... Either way, the Ref blew the call one way or the other..... Either make the initial call and blow the play dead or don't and let the chips fall where they may....... Horrible officiating in a game 7 is just not acceptable !!!

Yes they are - anytime you have a team down 3-1 and lose you choked..... plain and simple

Agreed.

Your boys barely got by (though they did deserve to win) the Wings, I wouldn't be talking trash.

As a fan of the NHL, if I were a Wings fan yes I would be disappointed but let's face it, would you have ever thought at the beginning of this season you would have been (1) win from the Conf. Championship!

Be proud of what your team accomplished and realize that the future is bright in 'HockeyTown'!!

Thanks to both teams for an entertaining series!

The Wings were suppose to be in transition this year. They took the best team to OT in game 7. I'm excited for the next season.

Fun fact, last 5 teams left won the last 5 Cups.

Brutal, 1 simple breakdown in OT and it's all gone. I wonder which D were on the ice. Can't let a D man walk into the slot alone.

Kudos to CHI for the comeback.

Wings will be back!

Go Bruins now!

Well said my friend. Very proud of a team that no one even gave a chance of making the playoffs, let alone a thought of playing 14 games deep into the playoffs.

Lifelong Hawks and Milwaukee Brewers fan. I hold the Red Wings to the same standard as I do the St. Louis Cardinals - not hate, but kind of an aggressive irritation/anger/jealousy feeling. I guess I respect them too much to hate them. Other than whipping up on Chicago when the franchise was down in the late 90's and early 2000's, I can't find much bad to say about the Wings. They have been a classy organization typically rostered with classy players. Nice for Chicago to get the last word in an awesome rivalry, look forward to the day they meet in the Cup finals.

ah now the downfall of one of the oldest teams in the nhl. Least theyll be in a weak division next season so theyll be a perennial 6-8 seed.

People have been saying that since the big lockout back in 2005. All the Wings have done is made the playoffs every year since then (SJ is the only other team to do that), they won a cup, and was 1 game away from winning another. This team isn't going anywhere.

not sure who's been saying that since 2005 but with lidstrom retiring and zetterberg/datsyuk showing their age its not looking good for them.

The people who get paid to talk and write hockey always say this. Lidstrom retired last season and the defense was better this season statistically. They have depth at D. And Datsyuk is showing his age? He is still a top 5 player. I can tell based on your posts you say this stuff because you don't like the Wings. Zetterberg and Datsyuk are still two of the best two way forwards in the game.
