Please Help I Never bought Hockey, What to BUY?

Hey Thanks in advance for the help. I have seen some good looking boxes and cards from hockey. I have been thinking about buying a box of HOCKEY and wanted to know what box u would buy? i dont want to spend 500 a box but want something that i could get some good stuff from. What to buy?

Safest bet is 09/10 UD Series 1, stick the Young Guns rookies away for later. You might get one of the nice case inserts as well.

I would agree, unless he's looking for rookie autos, but even then its the best ROI.

If you are collecting because of the Olympics and like jersey cards: try a box of SPX or Artifacts.

If you like on card autos, try a box of SP Authentic

If you just want hits but from prospects, try a box of 09-10 Heroes and Prospects.

price point of 100 - 150. I would like to get some nice RC, autos ect.... I would love to pull a superstar auto also. Just some good cards. For sure nice rookie autos. I really wouldnt know if I got a good card or not until I looked them up

Trilogy might be your best bet then, you're gonna get a mix of both worlds with autos & rookies, and you can pull some nice vet autos as well. Not sure about rookie autos in that product though. I haven't opened any this year, but did last year and don't remember.

You may want to wait for SP Game Used, some really good hits in there with rookie and superstar autos and patches but any individual box could be a real dud.

At 100/box for autos wait for SPA. 3 autos, the future watch rcs have huge value and lots of stars are in the auto subsets.

Also Ultimate collection in hockey is superb, you get 3 hits for 80 as opposed to one hit in the other sports.

To go further:
Nothing out right now is really centered around autos. Trilogy will give you 3 but its not really a high demand set so it doesnt sell very well, plus there are no patches.

SPGU should release soon, but that's a REAL hit or miss. 1-2 autos per box, sometimes you get a ridiculous patch/letter, sometimes you get 6 jerseys.

ICE is likewise a real hit or miss, get the case hit rc /99 and your golden, otherwise youre hosed. Not a whole lot of autos for the price point.

Really for around 100/box SPA and Ultimate are your best bets.

I LOVED ultimate last year. Probably my favorite product out of all sports. I hope it's as good this year.
