TASS- thanks for breaking down the YG's w/ their respective team names..very helpful to someone like me without a broad base of NHL knowledge.

Question for you (and the other hockey prospectors on the page):

I'm looking at entering into my 1st case break 'team' draft. From the looks of this list, would you say Avalanche, Flames, Bruins and Oilers would be the best 'team' bet on a '13-'14 UD hockey case break??

Best product in hockey, going to be loaded this year.

Presales for complete sets are $300+? Seems a little high to me.

I talked to my distributor today also but he told me it was pushed back by UD until Wednesday release. He told me I couldn't get my 1+ cases until then. Good luck with your break!

I talked to my guy that I buy from at 3pm. I was shocked to hear it myself. I don't know why it would be pushed back one day. Either way I'll have it on Thursday which isn't a big deal to me.

I talked to my guy at noon. Now I'll have to call in the am. I won't be able to break until Friday if I can't get mine tomorrow.

Little off-topic, but has anyone noticed yet that all the Hockey Heroes 1980s cards say 2012-13 Upper Deck Series 2 on the back?

Even beckett laughs at some of these price suggestions.

Seth for $150......maybe you added that zero by accident...lol

Give it a bit of time and you'll get yakupov for like $4.

Boxes are $65 now....Those saying grab them before they hit a $100.....LOL

Do they even stop printing these? Market is just flooded.

Fun to collect but just reminds me of the 90's too much

The distributors claimed it was under-ordered. I suspect Series 2 may have been short-printed.

I sat on a case for six months and finally ripped it the other day. These cases are never going up, MacKinnon is not Crosby.

Any estimates on production numbers for Series 1 or # of YG's?

Overall this rookie year might be one of the best especially in the future but prices are tanking everyday even with the season on.

Looking at 07-08, the box is still $110 at dacards. While 12-13 is like $35.
So rookie performance determines future box prices.

Retail was flooded with cheap tins/YG's but my LCS said he can't get anymore Tins from Series 1 anymore, all out the distributors told him.

I don't like how we never have any real numbers on these.

Funny reading the predictions on value, and looking at where prices actually sit today.

I know these are heavily produced, but I'm still amazed how cheaply you can pick up most of this year's crop. Seth Jones under $10, Galchenyuk under $15, even MacKinnon under $50.

Yes the lowest I've been able to pick these up in years, with the Mackinnon I do see an upcharge for the non 'ink blot' version .

That being said I have some doubles for Series 1 and would be interested in trading for ones I still need, if interested we can exchange lists/needs.

There is no way these boxes will ever reach $100. It's a solid checklist for sure, but those prices are absurd.

The difference between 07-08 and this year is that the retail market has expanded significantly.

I think the last time we saw a YG consistently sell at $100 well into his RC year was Tavares in 09/10. Even Duchene was fetching $40+ late into the year... Not so much this year, but I like how I can still grab boxes of this stuff at my LCS for $70 out the door. I've busted 3 hobby boxes and 1 retail tin and all have had solid YG's. Can't say I made out or broke even, but S1 has been a satisfying break value wise this year IMO...

Dealers and over production kills these.

They get boxes at $50 or less, flood ebay the next day. Get top prices. Demand dries up and everyone else is left holding #@#@#@#@ in their hand.

probably true. As a collector I just like the design and look of the cards. Trumps all of Panini's hockey releases.
