Default Trade deadline moves

Thought we might consolidate all the moves into one thread for ease of use. Trade deadline is 3pm Wednesday so next 2 days will be fun.

Pittsburgh starts off by acquiring Jordan Leopold on D from FLA. More movements expected from Pitt.

I've been following that all morning. Good move for the Pens to pick up a solid defensive d-man. Looks like Skoula could be getting his walking papers any day now. Look for Pitt to move at least 1 more d-man, likely for a winger.

Also, can anyone confirm that Philly has waived Riley Cote? I'm hearing rumors that that happened.

Vokoun won't happen. If FLA deals him, they will be looking to shed contract $$'s. And Philly isn't in a great place to pick a contract of his size without dumping a guy like Richards, Briere, or Timonen. That ridiculous contract that they gave Pronger's old ass isn't helping the situation at all either. That contract of Briere especially is going to come back and poke them in the brown eye eventually

Edit: Forgot to mention before I submitted, I don't see them moving their C. But if they can dump a mid range salary, they should be able to grab a serviceable goalie like Roloson.

Hearing the Pens are close to dealing a prospect for Alexei Ponikarovsky. I would be pretty happy with that move He could be a decent point getter once he gets out of the black hole that is Toronto.

Edit: Look like Caputi is going north in the deal. I might vomit

Poni is streaky, I can compare that to the pick up of Miro Satan the Pens got last year. He'll be a good 2nd or 3rd line player in Pittsburgh.

Don't really see a huge deal going down today. I hope I am wrong and I hope it would involve my Sabres. I'm hoping they try to make a move for Tomas Kaberle.

Boston would be smart to get Thomas to waive his no trade clause because Rask is clearly the future there.

I actually see a Raffi Torres type player helping the Sabres out.

I hope the Bruins move Thomas as well. Can you imagine him as a Flyer? A fighting goalie for the Flyers brings back Hextall memories.

Looks like no one wants Skoula. Leafs are dumping him to Jersey.

Here we go with some local flavor...... Caps get Scotty Walker-a fan fav in Boston from the Canes for TBD.....now TSN is reporting a 7th round pick.............

more window dressing Eric Belanger from Minnesota for a 2nd round pick....leads me to think a bigger deal is acoming.....

Boy I'm glad the Pens have Shero and not that dipsh*t running things in Washington. Why pick up more offense when you are in desperate need for defensive dmen and a goalie? Has fat Teddy blogged about the deal yet?

Having a great day. Always happy when Washington makes seemingly pointless moves and when Philly does nothing to help themselves. That and I can't stand Leonsis and his whiney bitch about the Penguins blog. The GM is pretty much useless too.

Although, it looks like the Caps have added some grit with Belanger coming over from Minn.

Moves may appear to be pointless to you and I but we are just fans........
sorry I dont read Leonis' blogs so I don't have point of reference.......

Suspect your correct about Belanger he has played in 30 NHL Stanley Cup playoff games, registering two goals and four assists. Belanger previously played for Washington coach Bruce Boudreau when both were with the AHLís Lowell Lock Monsters from 1999-2001. He had 23 goals and 35 assists in 78 games under Boudreau.

Nathan Paetsch and a 2nd to CBJ for Raffi Torres to Buffalo. Steve are you dancing in the streets yet about that deal

And how is Gaustad's hand? From the looks of it, Rupp's jaw broke it right before the pummeling began last night.

I don't think Gaustad even landed 1 punch. Must have hurt his hand falling on the ice. Bye bye McArther.

I think he landed 1 early and then turtled, in what I figured was a protection move. Then landed on the same hand when he fell.

Regardless, hope he didn't seriously mess himself up. Worst time to see an injury is during a fight.

About 10 min to go. They are saying Washington has something big in the works. I'm guessing they get another scorer and completely disregard their need at d and in goal.
