We lost this game, Game 2 is not a must win but it would be nice before going to Philly.

Unfortunately for the Flyers, it's still the right call. And I say that as someone who would love to see the Rangers lose.
It's also impossible to control a puck that bounces just as a defenseman goes to clear it out of the zone, causing him to shoot it into the stands. It's still a delay of game penalty.

That's another joke of a rule.

Maybe the Flyers are just a dirtier team.

In all honesty, there were some bad calls that went against the Flyers in the first period, but that happens in any game. The officiating in both Rags-Flyers and Jackets-Pens was atrocious. No consistency at all.

A flyers fan too huh? Are you as much of a homer about the flyers as you are about the wolves that's a weird combo haha...you might be the only Twolves/flyers fan in the world!

Great start for the rangers, glad to see St. Louis get involved!

And I love how your complaining about the penalties you guys took after the game was basically over, your mad you have 1 shot in the third so the dirty F**** skate around slashing and cross checking our players lmao. Get real buddy.

actually it was technically 5 to 1 lol. the double minor counts as 2 but really was one call.

And then the 3 late frustration penalties. So it was more like 3 to 1

When a team employs scum like Rinaldo they should automatically be shorthanded for 2 minutes at the opening faceoff. And yes, I know, James Neal - but at least he's a 40 goal scorer. Rinaldo probably doesn't have 40 career goals, including the juniors and the minors.

Lol, according to Wikipedia, he has exactly 40.

Was a pretty close and entertaining game, until the Rangers took over in the 3rd. Flyers took some idiotic penalties which lead to their losing.

James Neal is on Crosby line, no? So 40 goals is really cause of Crosby not how good on offense Neal is. Rinaldo could have 40 if he played alongside Grioux for us.

and he was involved in 43% of all Pens scoring.... highest in the NHL.

he took more faceoffs than anyone in the league, winning a respectable 53% of them.

he had more Time On Ice than any other forward in the league.

he helped the Pens finish #1 on the Power Play and #5 on the Penalty Kill.

it's not even close. and if it wasn't Crosby, it still wouldn't be Giroux.

Yep. But the NHL will "fix it" so the "cry baby" wins it.

Nice job by the Rangers shutting down the Flyers in the 3rd and really getting their PP going, this series looks like it will be decided by the goaltending which does not bode well for the Flyers unless they get Mason back in net.

I don't think it bodes well even if the Flyers do get Mason back - he's had one good season in his career. Actually, not even one full season - two half seasons. The first half of his rookie year he was good and the first half of this season before he signed his new contract. If this series comes down to goaltending, the Flyers are toast.

They have a goaltender, there was a freak injury. Hopefully he'll be back for game 2 because Emery has a lot of holes.

I watched the whole game through the eyes of a Flyers fan and I didn't have any issue with the referees. It seemed like they swallowed their whistles a lot and only really got involved when the penalty reached "felony" level.

We'd better figure out Lundquist quick or this is over before it starts.

Mason won the same amount of games as Lundqvist this season (33) and had a very respectable 2.50 GA along with a .917 S%

I would say that's a pretty decent season and the only one that really counts in relation to this years playoffs as it was with his current team.

And I believe he won his 2 starts against the Rangers this season.

He did have a good first half but his play dipped pretty badly after he signed his new contract. He did rebound a bot towards the end of the year, but I still don't trust him in the playoffs. Fleury had more wins than both of them, the same .917 save percentage as Mason (and not far off from Lundqvist's .920) and a better GAA (2.35) than Mason and practically the same as Lundqvist's 2.36. So by your reasoning, if a Pens-Rangers series came down to goaltending it would be even.

Sorry he's on the Malkin line who when healthy is probably as good as Crosby who always won an MVP award so either way you look at it, It helps when you have someone great next to you, Neal wouldn't be as good if he was the main player on a line.

Anywho, Like I said Game 2 is not a must win game but it would be nice to have before heading to Philly on Tuesday.
