Default Nathan MacKinnon - Sell or Hold?

I guess I'm just asking for a general opinion answer. I understand that demand is incredibly high, and whether or not it makes sense to cash in now while I can or hold out.

Personally, I'm holding his stuff. The kids is gunna be a star, and quite frankly is already making his case. I can't wait to see what he does in his 2nd full season.

sell.
His card prices are up in Crosby territory and he hasn't done anything yet.
Only one way to go from here

Hasn't done anything yet? am I missing something?

Yes, he hasn't won a title. or scoring records. But his play on ice for a rookie was fantastic. let's see what happens to UD CUp values, doubt they are to Crosby's levels.

He's a beast at only 18, theirs two paths he can go down. Get lost in the spot light and party to much like Seguin or become a great player.

i haven't been watching his cards that closely but are they really in Crosby territory? Crosby rookies v MacKinnon rookies are the same?

and i'm not sure it's fair to say he hasn't done anything yet. he's looked brilliant as a rookie.

Mackinnon YG 9.5 recent sales - $160, $120, $170
Crosby YG 9.5 recent sales - $305, $379, $343

MacKinnon Ice - $1416, $1225
Crosby Ice - only one was a 9.5 at $4955

He's not at Sid levels yet in current sales prices, but it's the closest thing I've seen since 2005. Awesome season for sure, but at the same time Crosby put up 102 points at the same age...you know I don't like the Pens, but that's amazing.

seems like a good time to buy, or at least hold, MacKinnon... not sell.

then again, if everyone else sells it'll be easier for me to buy.

I have a MacKinnon YG, I should probably check into getting it graded.

I would sell and buy in off season or sophomore slump ;-)

99% of all cards come back down at some point

I'm definitely holding/buying. I have the yg exlcusives, 6 regular yg, canvas yg and POE, a Select auto/jersey /199 and a regular totally certified auto. Working on a lead for a high gloss yg now and looking for the acetate yg.

Here's a couple of them http://s1342.photobucket.com/user/du...?sort=3&page=1

I would like to grab his Cup rookie, but I can imagine how bad that will be.

Baseball guy here in the market for a Mackinnon YG- I watched a few at end of season when they were around $75.

Now auctions ending around $50. You guys think this is good value, or more room to settle as the off-season drags on?

I guess I don't understand this comment. They average about $475 on ebay when they go up for auction.

It is always best to sell top picks who collectors know. Crosby's value did not increase as his career continued. It is better to invest in players with untapped potential such as Josh Gibson for example.
