Default Bruins vs. Canadiens series thread

So the nastiness starts tonight...what are your thoughts?

I think the Canadiens are playing as well as they have all season, and Carey Price has the ability to take a series by himself. That said, I think the Bruins are as deep as any team on both offense and defense. I have a hard time seeing anyone from the East beating them in a series, but I'm hoping for a great series.

As a 'Hawks fan, I may actually be more excited for this series than for any other. A longstanding rivalry, two great goalies, and players who really don't like each other. Can't wait for tonight.

Montreal has perfected the recipe for beating the Bruins and getting them off their game. Not to mention the Bruins tend to fold like a cheap suit in Centre de Bell. As much as I hate to say it, Montreal in 6. Hoping it goes to overtime in Game 7 though!

Which series was that? Last time I saw a Canadien goalie take a series, HALAK was on the back of the jersey.

I can easily see this series being a "home team wins every game" type of series, I fully expect 6-7 games. Paille back helps fourth line punch, but no Chris Kelly still leaves the PK at less than 100%. That being said the further we get into the playoffs, the more the guys will push for Mission Iggy.

You had to go there didn't you? LOL. Well thanks at least for not posting it in the Penguins thread

The Habs were one of only two teams to have a winning record against the Broons this season - the other one just got dismissed in 5 games by the Broons. The games will be competitive and Montreal will probably eke out a win or two, but Boston is the best team in the NHL - no one is beating them this year. Boston in 6.

That's why I used the word ability - I know he hasn't done it to this point, but I do think he's good enough to pull it off. Maybe they should tell him it's an international tournament, as he seems to pick up his game when he plays for his country.

Fair point, though. He obviously has more to prove than does Rask.

Regular season and past mean nothing.

Montreal has a quick team, but Carey Price doesn't impress me. Even when the Bruins are off Tuuka Rask can win a game all by himself. He stood on his head during a couple of the Red Wings games and definitely saved the Bruins from at least one more loss in that series. With their solid defense and improved scoring punch I have the think the Bruins take this in 6. Reilly Smith is the xfactor, his play on the third line along with strong two way play from Eriksson has made Bruins fans forget Seguin already.

Gonna be a great series. Rooting for the Habs, but picked the B's in 6.

Iginla missing a wide open net twice on that power play was killer for Boston. Haven't screamed at a TV this hard in months Tuukka needs to step it up. Flat out got beat that 2nd goal. Hoping for a Subban vs Chara bloodbath before the series is over.

That's 3 wide open shots missed. Guess its better from those 2 than Marchand continuing it from last series

Honestly, how much #@#@#@#@ can the Bruins get away with in front of the net? I appreciate a tough game (the hitting has been phenomenal tonight), but it's getting a little ridiculous in front of Carey Price.

The Bruins know exactly how much they can get away with, and they play right to that line. Definitely makes them a tough opponent.

I agree, they use their aggressiveness & physical play to make up for their lack of speed. They walk a pretty fine line sometimes, but they do take a fair amount of penalties. It's going to be a fun series, it's going to get even more chipy as it progresses. I picked Boston in 7, but this really is the series I'm worried about, it could easily go either way, especially of Montreal shoots high. Wonder if Price will start the whole series or after tonight if they go back to Budja.

Wow, do you watch the same games the rest of us do? Put Rask on any other team and he's marginal at best. And YES I understand, coach, and have played goal. I won't even bother responding to your Price comments.

I agree with you on Price. Not so much on Rask. There is a reason he is the front runner & likely winner of the Vezina award. Marginal? Best save %, most shutouts, 3rd? I believe in GAA. Do you watch the same games as the rest of us?
