$5000 to rip and flip-What product?

After reading posts about how it's much safer and more promising to rip lots of a low-mid end product than a few highend, I've decided to give it a go.

I was thinking of going for 5 cases of Hot Prospects, with a rookie patch auto guaranteed in every box with the potential for shield cards, it sounds good. My shop has 05/06 at the same price as 07/08 and I think 06/07 is even cheaper.

So my question is: Can you do this with hockey? and if so, what products would you recommend?

the only products in Hockey would be seies 1 & series 2.... but those have been released too long ago.

you need to rip a product right when it's released and get it listed fast to be able to turn a profit. trying to pull the big hits wil only end in dissapointment most of the time.

ALSo.... UD has the worst overall value for case breakers.

Try 2008 Bowman Baseball. it will be a blast to open.

If you want to rip and flip hockey, you have to be very creative. And there are precious few products out right now that you can do that with. Pick another sport.

take the $5k and put it in an envelope.

seal the envelope.

the odds of you doing that with any product in any sport these days are pretty low

I think what the OP is looking to do is open a case and still have his money. Cake and eat it too sort of thing. Can't fault him for that, a lot of people do it. I know I do. I busted 06-07 Finest basketball because I knew at worst I would just break even. I would have rather busted something like Ultimate hockey or something, but you can't just bust what you want and not lose money.

I doubt anyone busts multiple cases of Topps Baseball because they really enjoy the product.

At $3600 you better hit AO or Sid. Try 06-07, its cheaper and it has Malkin and a few other big names in it rather than the two superstars.

... and Malkin may be the best player in the NHL, could be a huge card down the line.

In an effort to make quotes with substance: I like VC's idea, as long as the case is sealed and if it doesn't contain the Crosby or AO, it will never be worth more than that.

But if you would want to rip and flip, I would agree, wait until UD1 comes out and buy a lot of it!

But if you are going to rip high end...06-07 The Cup is a much better investment, you can get the Malkin and a TON of other solid hits for half the price.

Interesting idea. That old Wayne Gretzky Collection stuff, the stuff that was what? $1500 a pack? The last time I saw a pack of that for sale was for $8500.

The Cup could skyrocket over time, or it could just end up a really rare piece of garbage. You wouldn't think there would be any way it could be anything but pure gold, but I've seen so many things come and go over the years that nothing would surprise me.

Jujus to you for recognizing that 06-07 stuff is a good investment.

now THATS not fun. cuz now you actually have the product. 401k = dont get any product to tease you. thats like going to a strip joint, getting a girl, and having her just stand there in front of you.................doing...........NOTHING.

5k huh. get a couple cases of SPGU or 07/08 artifacts. that's a fun break.

The only problem with that would be the amount of redemptions you may have. That would totally suck if you were to pull 2-3 redepmtions per case that would be expired. Unless You sell the case, then that would be a different story!

If you wanna throw your money away buy a case of the 05/06 CUP. There maybe 2 or 3 Ovies and a couple Crosby left still sealed in cases. The chance is very slim as 95% of the ovie/crosby have been already pulled. I wouldn't take the chance on this product unless you are a HUGE gambler. E

If you are looking to profit, I would use the 5k and buy 01 SP Authentic Golf Case and hold it till the Golf season is over. I think Tiger's hype will only grow throughout the year. Sell it towards the end of the year and then Rip and Flip with your profits. This will also allow you to wait on new releases.

I can't argue about opening 05/06 vs. 06/07 being that back then I opened an 05/06 and got a 1 color AO patch. Versus 06/07 with the dual shield and sweet Kopitar and other things!
