Default and the Ted Lindsay Award goes to....

Crosby selected as Ted Lindsay Award recipient - Las Vegas MyNews3 - KSNV

Crosby selected as Ted Lindsay Award recipient

Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - For the second straight season, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was tabbed as the Ted Lindsay Award winner, presented annually to the league's top performer as voted on by the NHL Players' Association.

Crosby led the league with 104 points this season, registering at least one point in 60 of the 80 games he played. He scored 36 goals and led the league with 68 assists to capture his second Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's top scorer. The 26-year-old Nova Scotia native also won the Lindsay Award in 2007 and was also a finalist in 2010.

He edged out Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf and Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux.

The Lindsay Award was renamed for the Hall of Fame forward who helped establish the NHLPA. It was previously known as the Lester B. Pearson Award from 1970-71 through 2008-09.

Big whoop, Players kiss his butt nothing new. Hart is the only trophy that matters and Grioux should (he won't) win it. Without Giroux the Flyers don't even make the playoffs, With Crosby the Pens still sucked it up in the playoffs.

Should've gone to the best player in the world, Ryan Getzlaf.

i don't know that there's much incentive for other players to kiss up to Crosby.

and we could just as easily say that without Crosby the Pens don't make the playoffs, and with Grioux the Flyers still got knocked out in the 1st round.

either way... Crosby got the Hart-Lindsay-Art Ross sweep. good for him.

Meh it's rigged anyway, Flyers losing in 1st round had nothing to do with Giroux but Crosby played like crap and Pens still got far.

Oh yeah... NHL is definitely rigged.

Flyers fans are seriously some of the worst fans out there...

If it is, I hope it is rigged in L.A.'s favor at least a few more seasons then

Crosby still sucks. Toews should win the award every year.

I don't really believe that, but just wanted to throw a homer comment out there. I think he Lindsay award is the more impressive since it's peers voting, so congrats to Crosby.

I believe though that these awards are based on regular season play alone. So Crosby's disappearing act (and it was a dandy) in the post-season doesn't have any merit to his winning the Hart or Lindsay awards.

definitely nice to get that kind of acknowledgment from your peers. especially considering all the hate he catches.

Gretzky made some supportive comments recently about Crosby too. he seems to be a fan.

anyway.... on to next season.

fyi ----

Odds to win the 2014-15 Stanley Cup

Boston Bruins 8-1
Chicago Blackhawks 8-1
Los Angeles Kings 12-1 (no respect)
Pittsburgh Penguins 12-1 (best opening odds for a while)
St. Louis Blues 12-1

anyone have any non-homer predictions? (i'm predicting the Pens will win the Cup)

prediction - Blackhawks miss the playoffs... with the end of rumspringa Toews returns to his amish community and the team falls apart.

I read a recent interview in which he said Crosby would be his pick if starting a franchise with one guy, while Toews would be a good backup choice (I think he used the term 1A). Tough to argue with his choices.

That Amish pic was pretty good!

After Sid retires there will be a award named after him. He is the best player on the planet, and will be for a long time. Jonathan T and Getzlef are good players but they are not like Sid.
