I think Malkin had 0 shots tonight, they need to put him back up in the starting line....Malone I feel cost the Pens the win with his dumb penalties...but he was like that all year, few games he had fights and was physical...other games he was putting in 2-3 goals

but VS is the worst sports channel out there so they don't get much credibility

Good thing Detroit can stay under control and not take retaliatory penalties.

The little bald headed guy that does the commentary (forget his name) knows his stuff. When he says something I tend to listen. Now if it were Don Cherry or Barry I would take it with a grain of salt and hesitate before agreeing.

also leaving the feet is just one of many things used as charging

Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A "Charge" may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.

A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.
When a major penalty is imposed under this Rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed, and an automatic fine of one hundred dollars ($100).
A minor, major or a major and a game misconduct shall be imposed on a player who charges a goalkeeper while the goalkeeper is within his goal crease.
(NOTE) A goalkeeper is NOT "fair game" just because he is outside the goal crease area. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an opposing player makes unnecessary contact with a goalkeeper. However, incidental contact, at the discretion of the Referee, will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.

Although goalkeepers are provided with additional protection under Rule 78 -- Protection of the Goalkeeper, they are still subject to penalties for infractions of the rules that they commit in or out of the goal crease. Particular attention will be made by the Referees to goalkeepers that embellish the contact in an attempt to draw a penalty.

I've always liked Ryan Malone but he played dumb tonight and hurt his team. Probably a little frustrated but Malone is a physical player so I don't have any problem with his play.

Shelly looks stupid when he cries like he does to the refs when he has his guys taking cheap shots on a team thats out playing them badly. The refs and linesmen must get migrains between him and Crosby especially when things are going bad. Crosby cries to anyone in a striped shirt who will listen to him all game long. Before I get called a Crosby hater don't bother. I've always said that I think he is a highly skilled player but he'd be a little more likeable if he just shut up and played the game.

Maybe things change when they get home but unless the Wings make a parade line to the penalty box in game 3 this might be over in four. MAF is the only thing keeping them from getting smoked the first two games.

BAM - Crosby didn't say a word tonight to the refs that was more than any team captain would. MT is a coach, and when things aren't going well for a team he has to do something. #@#@#@#@ the Flyers coach spent half the series complaining.

I don't like VS eitheir. Glad the rest of the series is on NBC. I have a question, why did the 2 penguins get 10 minute penalites? Verses didn't explain it unless I missed it.

Mike Emrick and he is one of the best in the business. Thank God he was there tonight because Eddie O might as well of had a Pens sweater on during his commentary. I know you played for the Pens and coached them as well but can you just be a little unbiased since thats your job ?

Yeah, I'm not an EO fan by any means. There is no reason he should be there. Way too much bias.

But you put up the rule book definition of charging. Have to follow that up with something, right?

HUH ? What games were you watching ? Crosby was even b*tching to the linesmen about how he was dropping the puck on faceoffs. He complains to the ref just about every time he gets touched that he is being held, especially during stoppages in the offensive zone. Again , I like the kids game but just shut up and play.

As for John Stevens complaining, he gets hammered locally for being too stoic on the bench and not complaining when his team is getting boned on calls so I don't know where that came from.

I know your a Pens fan but please try being a little objective.

BAM - I think I'm pretty objective with most of my points. Granted at times I get a little biased, but what fan doesn't. But him talking to the refs is nothing that other players don't do. He does get animated at times, but when your getting double teamed and grabbed all night long wouldn't you say something. He has cut it down a lot since his first season, so I have to give him some credit for that.

maybe Datsyuk can teach him how to get thru tight spaces and keep the puck

Drapers line played a lot against Pitts 1/2 line which doesn't bode well for Pitt.
