Apparently he was hit by a semi, absolutely terrible. My thoughts and prayers are with the Bourdon family and the Canucks community.

I am very sorry for his family.

But I agree, Bikes are DANGEROUS. I have a good friend who's Dad just got hit over Memorial Day Weekend. He is in ICU right now, with Broken Vertabrae, and they don't know if he'll walk again. He's AT LEAST very lucky to be alive. He was only going 20 mph when some idiot kids pulled out in front of him, freaked out, and then slammed their brakes on him.

I've lost 2 friends in Bike accidents, one of them was DECAPITATED after some old lady in Florida pulled out in front of him- The other hit a pothole on the highway and flew about 200 feet; he was just married with a kid on the way.

Bikes SHOULD be illegal. We are required to wear seatbelts FOR A REASON.

A Damn shame though............

I feel awful for the young man and his family. He will be in my prayers.

I have to disagree with the motorcycles being dangerous statement. As a person who rides a bike, its the idiots that don't pay attention to them that are dangerous.

All sports players should not be permitted to ride motorcycles, they have to much money invested in them. Its just a shame....

To clarify a bit. There is the inherent danger of riding a bike, thats just obvious. With Ben, he should have been wearing a helmet, but again, the accident was not his fault, it was a person who probably shouldn't have been driving if I remember correctly, that wasn't paying attention. But I do agree that pro athletes shouldn't ride on account of what they have to lose. However I disagree that they shouldn't be allowed to as it is a choice that as a free person they are free to choose.

Off my soap box now

!
I've lost two friends, have a good friends dad in the hospital right now (who I like better then my friend), have had many friends hurt themselves on bikes- laid up, with complications. I also witnessed a bike accident once where a bike got sideswiped, and the guys hand got cut off in the chains or wheels.....He died also....FLIPPED me out

So based on my experiences, and I believe in freedom trust me, we are BETTER off without bikes on the road. Unless you live in bummphuck, they should be illegal.
