______________________________________

Based on teams currently claimed our monthly inflow is $1,080 BEFORE fees, supplies and shipping costs.

Just for simple math purposes we are going to figure a $940/month budget for purchases. Again this is just for simplicity sake and will most likely end up being more than this.

______________________________________

Projected February budget = ~$260 + ~$940 = ~$1,200
_______________________________________

Since we are starting this right on the new year I think we need to plan breaks for each 4 month span. So now through April. Then in April we will do May through August. In August, September to December.

We also need to be careful and make sure we incorporate prospect products, HOF products, high end products and most likely previous year products.

Keep in mind, not everyone is going to agree all of the time. But if we offer variety then things should hopefully even out for everyone over time.

________________________________________

Based on the budget numbers supplied please offer up your suggestions for:

Feb
Mar
April

__________________________________________

It would be great to get proposals like the ones below but if you just want to suggest a few products that is fine as well:

My proposals -

#1
Feb - 2008 Razor Letterman Case ($320) - $880 remaining
Mar - 2011 Topps Heritage Case ($750) - $1,070 remaining
Apr - 2011 Topps Tribute 8 box case ($1,905) - $105 remaining

#2
Feb - 2011 Topps 1 Wax Case ($620) - $580 remaining
Mar - 2008 EEE 10 boxes ($770) - $750 remaining
Apr - 2011 Topps Tribute 4 box case ($955)
2011 Topps Gypsy Queen 6 boxes ($582) - $153 remaining

I don't expect one proposal to be accept in entirety and I fully expect we will have to piece a final schedule together but I think doing it in the format above allows everyone to see how we can mix and match different ideas.

Plus we can hopefully narrow down product options for each month.

We at least need to decide on February for sure. Especially if Topps 1 is going to be the product since the release is currently scheduled for February 2nd.

maculay75 01-23-2011 07:26 PM

I like option 1 better than 2 as I would prefer to avoid boxes as opposed to sealed cases

grm94 01-24-2011 12:44 AM

I would like...

Feb-2011 Topps Jumbo case
Mar-2009 UD Goudey case
Apr-2008 Donruss Americana Sports Legends case

just my 2 cents!

hester72598 01-24-2011 01:12 AM

I prefer Option #1 and same to only break cases instead of a few boxes.

gergs1134 01-24-2011 04:23 AM

I like option #1, but instead of an 8 box case of tribute, we could do a 4 box and then add a case of 2010 bowman chrome and a 6 box case of platinum for about the same price. Or do a case of Gypsy Queen in addition to the 4 box tribute.

Edit: I'm all about sticking to cases rather than individual boxes.

stevejeltz 01-24-2011 05:53 AM

What about:
1. 2011 Topps Jumbo Case ($530) $670 remaining
2. 2011 Topps Heritage Case ($750) or 10 boxes of 2008 EEE ($770) - $840 remaining
3. 4 box Tribute Case ($955) and 8 Box Gypsy Queen ($582) -$243 remaining

I would rather do the 2008 EEE for March, but that's just because I have Dom Brown Fever. I think this works out nice, but just my two cents. I think my math is right.

Razor Letterman would be cheap and fun, but are all teams represented? this would be my concern here.

Would 08 EEE be the bargin to get now with Spring training right around the corner or are we better of looking at 2010 or 2011 products?

Just as long as every team is represented, I'm really ok with any product.

Also agree with the fact that we should stick to a case and not boxes.

maculay75 01-24-2011 11:07 AM

When looking at the release calendar there are only three standard premium products for the year that I can see- Topps Tribute, Topps Sterling, and Triple Threads. Sterling and Tribute are better for HOF and threads is kind of a mix. I think we should definately hit up master sealed cases of these three for the year and then mix in the prospect products and standard releases. 25% would be premium and 75% would be new and old product. Taking away the master cases in the above hurt the teams with strong HOF members and weaker prospects IMO. And half cases of premium products reduces the chance of hitting the bigger hits. Im all for products like Gypsy Queen b/c they look like fun but not at the expense of a sealed 8 box case of tribute. But agree with the other posters it is important for teams to be fairly represented.

messingaroundok 01-24-2011 11:19 AM

I think that's the reason I wouldn't mind half or partial cases of multiple products per break -- to ensure that all teams are represented fairly. But if everyone else prefers going the case route, I won't object :)!

mgugs46 01-24-2011 11:25 AM

I am definitely voting for 08 EEE - I think its one of the best products out there right now - and there are lots of nice hits for a lot of teams.

Then join the SB promo break! :p

mgugs46 01-24-2011 11:53 AM

Oh, I will - I was just waiting to see if it was going to fill or not :D

Heritage and Tribute look pretty nice. What about Bowman Sterling? I'd also like to do TTT, doesnt even matter which year ;)

Also, and I dont know if they will ever have them - but would anyone be interested in doing case of 09 Ultimate?

There are a lot of older, well non 2011 products that I would be interested in actually.

swerve 01-24-2011 12:53 PM

I agree with all of you that I would prefer to do full cases, especially on the High End products.

My only concern is - unless we just have a few no break months or maybe if all teams get claimed - it is going to be awfully hard to break master cases of all or even most of the high end products.

I mean we could go:

Feb - no break - $1300 remaining
Mar - 2011 Heritage ($750) OR 10 box 2008 EEE ($770) - minimum $1470 remaining
Apr - 2011 Tribute ($1905) - $505 remaining

If all teams were claimed it would look a lot better. And I'm just using some of these products becuase the numbers are in this thread

Jan - 2010 Draft + $560 remaining
Feb - 2008 Donruss Sports Legends 10 bx case ($670) + 10 boxes 2008 EEE ($770) - $320 remaining
Mar - 2011 Heritage ($750) - $770 remaining
Aprl - 2011 Tribute 8 box case ($1905) - $65 remaining

swerve 01-24-2011 01:00 PM

I will just add from my point of view:

I would like to see Heritage in Mar and Tribute in April. I really have no preference what is opened in Feb and actually prefer not going the base Topps route.

mwolfson22 01-24-2011 01:17 PM

I vote for cases only... Other then that I don't have too many preferences.... Option #1 is fine with me but I am not sure if majority teams are represented in Razor Letterman. I am totally against sports legends though. I think that product is terrible. Not to mention that every card in there would have to be randomed almost.

maculay75 01-24-2011 01:35 PM

How about a 2008 case of heritage or goudy instead of the Razor product in February. Pretty low cost and just an idea if people are against Razor. Not everything will be a high end break but I believe those two would run the table on representation.

Bum Dawg 01-24-2011 01:35 PM

What I would like to see is have the National League teams pick the plan for 3 months then the American League and alternate. Right now there are probably 20 different ideas on what to break.

Another idea is maybe the teams in a division pick 2 plans for a 3 month period and the whole group votes on it. With a rule that you cant pick a case that has already been broken by us in the previous 6 months.

Just trying to think of ideas to ease the selection process, so the same people aren't always picking the cases(as a new member I sometimes feel like I have no voice in things) And what about each month having one team pick any case they want(up to a certain $ amount?) If this is a continuous thing everyone will get a pick eventually and I would at least feel like I had some say in things if I got to pick something.

I am all for working the high end material in there every once and a while.

Sorry for my ramblings...just trying to make this club the best it can be. :)!

mgugs46 01-24-2011 02:52 PM

I would also like to place a vote against Topps 2011. It will basically be all base, and while its a good rip/flip when it first comes out - very rarely are the hits worth anything, or in any way exciting.

I am in agreement to pass on 2011 Topps.

slugger82685 01-24-2011 03:26 PM

it doesnt really matter to me wut we break as long as most of the teams are represented, I think that is only fair considering we r keeping the same teams the whole time...either that or I think if an unclaimed team is represented and there is a team that is owned that isnt represented then that person should be able to get the unclaimed team as well, only seems fair to me

upsbroker06 01-24-2011 04:50 PM

I would like to see 2008 EEE in February, 2011 Heritage in March, and 2011 Tribute in April.

I like this idea too. Can we purchase some of the 2008 EEE boxes in the Super Bowl contest to get a case and a chance for our group to win in that as well? Just a thought.

Me three.

But unless more teams are claimed or the number of boxes of EEE are reduced the budget will be short $345 or so dollars and I assume we would want at least 10 boxes of EEE because isn't that a half master case?
