Default Typical wait time to ship?

Im new to this forum, and hopefully will be doing my fair share of buying/selling/trading.

My question is, what would you guys say is the general time frame someone should ship a card out after payment is received?

Just wondering.

Obviously ASAP, or next day, is the most optimal way, but I find it extremely tough to get to the post office with an increasingly busy schedule.

Sometimes it takes me upwards to a week to ship a card, and I certainly dont want to get a negative or rub someone the wrong way (dirty, dirty, dirty ).

Communication being the key here, I think 72-96 hours is pushing it. I try very hard for 48 hours or faster. Of course if someone pays late Saturday, you can't help getting it in the mail on Monday.

yes of course - I always try to get it out in 3 days or less, but there are the rare occasions when I get busy and time seems to fly by.

within a couple days is normal, anyhting after that and you should let the buyer know up front.

SHould be set in the negotiations.

If I buy something on a Monday night if it's out by Thursday AM I am cool with it.

Buy a cheap scanner/printer and print all your labels from eBay or PayPal shipping (for deals here). It only cost $1.64 for 1-3 oz and delivery confirmation is free and attached to the transaction. Stick them in ur mailbox with ur outgoing mail or drop in a blue box.

Will cost u $2.80 for the same service at the PO

Saving $1.16 per shipment will add up fast and the printer will pay for itself in no time.

The best thing you can do is be honest and up front. If it is gonna take a week before you can ship then you need to tell your buyer that before they purchase. Nothing will get you out of good graces of buyers quicker then accepting payments from people and then ignoring them afterwards. Especially when you are active on the board. If you have time to list items for sale, time to accept payments and time to cruise the board then you have time to ship.

How much respect do you have for your buyers....It doesnt really take that long to package an item.. I think card should be shipped within 24 hours of payment

I use to ship within a couple days max due to work etc. Im always up front with my shipping intentions but lately because of some personal things going on, I cant gurantee quick shipping so Im up front with being a week or more before I can. I havent had a problem with that because I tell people ahead of time before they pay and if its a deal breaker for them, I understand etc.

Shipping something out a couple days after payment does not mean you don't have respect for your buyers.

Folks:

Also, if you can't get around to shipping in a day or two, you should really reconsider selling cards directly through the mail. Try COMC or in person at LCS/shows.
