Question about former member: Playhard

Remember playhard? I thought he was a decent dude but turns out he was scamming a bunch of people and I didnt even know because he was always straight with me. Well, before he got banned he asked me to sell some cards for him on ebay since he claimed he didnt have an ebay id, which was a lie. I sold 3 baseball cards for him. Sicne I'm not an established seller on ebay they hold money for 3 weeks or until the buyer receives their cards and then they release the funds. I think the cards ended up selling for like $120-150 bucks. I send him money but lacked like $50 due to funds not being released right away. He tells me to keep about $10 or so but to send the rest.

Fast forward a little bit and he gets banned for scamming people. Since he was banned there was no way for me to contact him for his address concerning the $40. Morally its right for me to send him the money because after all its his money. But I feel like I shouldnt send him the money because who knows if the cards I sold for him were his or someone else's that he scammed.

So last night he emails me on ebay concerning one of my peyton manning cards I have on ebay. He asks when will I send him the remaining amount of money??? I emailed him and said he is a known scammer, and though I still owe him $40, he wont be getting it for the fact of him scamming so many people and me not truly knowing if those cards were his. Told him not to contact me anymore because the only thing that surrounds him is drama. What do I do though? Send him the money or say screw it?

In his email, he says he has been out of the country which is why he hasnt been on any trading sites lately. He hasnt been on any sites because he's probably been banned from them all. Also, here's his ebay user ID in case you would like to block him: playhard3811

The only reason I post this up is so its out in the open. I dont want him to join this site under a different name and then bash me and say I tried to screw him out of $40

If you're going to keep the money, the right thing to do would be to split it amongst the people who were scammed by this guy. There is no reason why the money should be yours. Of course that would be a hassle in its self, but again it would be the right thing to do in that situation.

Me personally, i would just give the guy the money. You have no proof that this money was made from cards that did not belong to him.

They could have been scammed cards you sold for him. Maybe thats why he didn't want those cards under his ebay----in case someone recognized them. Doesn't really matter at this point, agree with above----just send the money and wash your hands of this joker

yeah probably the best if you are not gonna send it to the victims It should not be a windfall in your favor regardless if it was $5 or $40.

How exactly is he being ignorant? He/Us were just going off your own words. Regardless if you "mistook" the cards to be from someone else you still posed the question- and that is the main issue. Then you tried to take it back the minute others started jumping on you. Just weird that you said what you said then immediately realized that you made a mistake in who the cards came from. But you still said what you said.

my response is that I'm not here to preach morals to this guy. He obviously knows that keeping the 40 dollars isn't right, but if he wants to, i wouldn't give a #@#@#@#@.

dude....if you read the thread you would see that I said when he got BANNED there was no way I could reach him to get his mailing address, unless you know of a way to go around that. That was 2 months ago or so. So when he emailed me on ebay and asked for his money it got me thinking......should I or shouldnt I? Not because I deserve the money. I could care less about the money. This guy just needs to happen to him what he does to everyone else.

I kind of like the idea of donating it to a food pantry or something along those lines

and on top of all that.....he already received the majority of his money. Its not like I was out to keep his money, as it appears some are trying to imply I was doing. He received every cent, minus the $40 that was held up on paypal and minus the fees

The right thing to do is to send him the $40. He lived up to his end of the deal, you must live up to your end of the deal.
