Default Int'l eBay Buyer: AVOID THIS GUY!

dako71

I sent this to him:
2007-08 07 Topps Triple Threads Cyan Auto GU Patch Greg Oden BGS9 Auto 10 1/1 RC | eBay

Before even emailing me, he files a claim on me today. I sent this item a month ago via USPS Priority Mail. He DEFINITELY received it. International countries are not required to scan packages, apparently.

Because he overpaid, he is claiming he never received it. I offered him $10 for 'customs fees.'

I'll keep you guys updated. Meanwhile, BLOCK THIS EBAYER FROM YOUR AUCTIONS!

As far as I know packages are scanned here in Ireland, what country is he from?

Sorry to hear about this, this type of activity is why many sellers are hesitant to ship worldwide

He's from Germany. I responded to his claim, I'm hoping he doesn't respond in a week. Also, he claims to have tried to contact me and I didn't respond to him, which is a blatant lie (he never tried contacting me). So, I'm going to call eBay and let them know about that.

For future reference, Registered First Class is the way to go. I thought Priority was better, apparently not.

Registered mail does not count for Paypal seller protection either even though it requires a signature. It has to be sent with the super expensive glabal express.

I have read on here that the ship cover insurance will protect you, but ypu would need another member to give you specific details. I don't ship international enough to stay totally updated.

Just curiosity, how do you DEFINITELY know he received it? Did he tell you he did?

Please stop selling on Ebay if you don't know how to or wont ship properly to satisfy Ebay and Paypal.

If you are going to ship internationally you must use USPS EMI or you will lose.

An alternate option is Ebay ship coverage.

How often does Priority Mail get lost?

I've shipped Priority over 500 times, never a problem.

Also, to jlzinck, eBay told me priority mail was OK in the past. And it used to be scanned. Now gotta registered.

1 of 2 things here.
1 You talked to an idito who know nothing about their own business
2 You are lying.

As a seller you need to show that an item as been delivered. The ONLY 100% accepted mailing is USPS EMI.

You are the one to blame but feel free to blame others.

You seem like an angry fella.

Life is good, smile a little bit.

Also, I did, indeed, contact eBay customer service in the past and they told me I'd be safe with International Priority Mail. From now on, going registered with cards worth more than $50.

I do not ship international. Many years back I got screwed by a few people who had quite a bit of feedback on high dollar cards

If you use registered mail, and your buyer files a claim...you will lose.

It is easier to track. Countries keep some sort of file for the package. USPS told me Registered Mail is scanned.

Correct. It is scanned and signed for, but it does not count for paypal seller protection.
You will lose a paypal claim with registered mail.

Don't worry about what USPS says. Worry about what Paypal says.

Honestly just trying to help you out. I'm not trying to be a prick.

Contact this guy about ship cover insurance through ebay. I've seen him explain it before, but I don't remember it all. He knows his stuff pretty well. It may be a cheaper option than the paypal requirements.

I have an express mail parcel currently lost in their system. It was a domestic package. USPS is going downhill fast and good luck getting one of their lazy employees to help with it. NEVER have I heard of Express or Registered getting lost but sure enough it has happened to me. Appears to be theft. Was never scanned again after leaving a sort facility. Either stolen on way out or never scanned in and stolen at the actual post office.

IMO, the title should be changed to "Int'l eBay Buyer: Avoid"

Selling overseas is, to me, such a hassle and not worth the few extra bucks. The few times I have shipped overseas (usually for high value cards so that the buyer is OK paying 30+ for expedited shipping), I still hold my breath waiting for some crazy chargeback or non-receipt claim. Not worth it to me, but others on here have had good experiences selling overseas regularly.

Lazy? You're being too kind.

My experience is that government employees tend to be horrific. NEVER go out of their way to help someone else.

Of course, you have exceptions. Once, I've had a chargeback against me from an international customer, and USPS lady helped me out A LOT. She called me 2 or 3 days and told me she found the package, knew EXACTLY where it was, and asked what I wanted them to do with it. NEVER had that kind of help from any other government employee. Not even close.

My guess is she was a young woman who was JUST hired by the USPS and was still enthusiastic about her job...

As long as neither of you are hairy....

(just trying to lighten up the mood).

Bottom line on ebay is - protect yourself. If it's valuable - ship Express. If it's not that valuable but you still want some kind of protection - ship registered. If it's not valuable at all or you trust the buyer - ship regular.
OR make sure you are insured - either through ebay or otherwise.
