Made a very reasonable offer on a Baseball card and he just decline the sell without even a counter.
His reason was because the 1st 1 sold for around 200.00....My offer was 100.00 and I expected a counter and I even told him that when I sent a message. Well he lowered is Bin and only has 1 other offer on the table besides mine and it's still available. |

You offered half of a previous sale and you are wondering why it was declined? Most sellers will not counter unless offer is CLOSE to BIN/BO price, not half price.

The last 1 sold....The seller got lucky and that's it.The player in question hit a walk off HR coming back from the DL. To honest with you I bet the next 1 sells for around 120 if that.I have been following this player for over a year. It was 1 of those luck things for the seller and that's it. |

Its the sellers choice and if someone offers me what I consider a low ball and we are a $100 off I wouldnt bother countering. Plus, its his card and he placed a value on it, he is not entitled to have to sell it or negotiate. He said best offer, that means send your best offer.

Ever thought he may not need to sell the card and he's only taking what he feels he should get for it? Title of this thread could be "you have to love low ball offers".

Greedy is a subjective term. Pay his price or move on. Don't see what the problem is.

What's wrong with decling an offer that the seller deems low ball?
If the next one sells for $120, go ahead and make him another $100 offer. You may get a counter then. Also, if he set auto decline, he can't counter you. Last edited by hche; 07-27-2012 at 01:38 PM. |

I had a buyer offer what he deemed fair for a red refractor. He ended up trying to prove his offer with his multiplier logic. He said I would never get my price and he would check with me in two weeks. Three days later, I sold it for $170 instead of the $80 he was offering. The market is what someone is willing to pay and demand. It's not always cut and dry.

Don't get me wrong I can always wait and see for another 1 to show up.That isn't the problem at all.
I just was shocked at the decline and I felt if he would of countered then maybe something could of been worked out. Oh well time to move on....I have learned to be patience with things and not do the Got to have it now...Kinda buying. Money isn't the issue for me. If you guys fill that 50% is low ball then I can't stop the way people fill...I didn't think 50% of the last 1 sold would cause such a issue. I guess next time I will have to go 75% of last sale.If I want the card that bad. Take care and have a nice day. Fellow Members |

To answer your question that's why there is a counter offer.
I was expecting a counter and didn't happen and that was my point in question. Thought 50% was room for somebody to counter...But I guess not. I know I would be more then happy to counter at 50%...But that's me and from what I can see on the form. 50% doesn't cut the mustard. Lesson learned |

Man... it tilts me when I hear people pronounce the word "feel" like "fill." Seeing it written as "fill"... oh man. Only way it could have been worse is if the phrase "I seen" was also used. Then I'd be dead. Pretty sure that would have brought about an aneurysm.
