Agreed to purchase a card from me for $29 and a few hours later I get this message

Sorry I have kind of changed my mind on buying the card. Is that okay or would you leave negative feedback ? Sorry.

Personally, I'd let it go.

Who knows you may sell it again tonight!

I would let it go, unless they already paid and were asking for a refund. Without a trade thread or trade manager, I don't see any kind of contract agreed upon, so I'd cut some slack with changing their mind.

Now, if they waited three days before changing their mind, I wouldn't likely be as understanding.

I am very impressed with the rational members tonight, making me proud

I expected to come back to this thread with a bunch of crazy nonsense from the witchhunt mafia

Normally I let it go, but a new member with 0 feedback?

To hurt or not to hurt...

I think my conscience is still saying let it go.

Not even a negative it it was my worst day. I don't take cards too seriously. It's supposed to be fun.

I would let it go. A couple hours later and no transfer of money.

Compared to my experience with a certain member recently I could have only hoped for this type of situation. haha

I get a little confused with this...

If someone changes their mind or doesnt pay after winning an eBay auction people go crazy and post their names etc. When people on these forums dont pay (which I feel is worse) its not really a big deal? A collecting community like this should have members who keep their word.

You stole my thunder. If this was ebay, the opinions would be a different story but the situation remains the same.

Or if it was a $500 card instead of a $29 card - people would do a 180 as well.

What if there was more to the story? What if the buyer deciding a few hours later made the seller miss out on his only other offer? What if the buyer agreed to pay, paypal address was sent, and the buyer bought something else? Yes I realize you should probably wait until you have the funds...

I'd personally let it go - but I basically let it go in all the situations - so at least I'm consistent about it.

i think a neg should be left. but you've all seen me say over and over again that "I'll take it" should be judged and weighted just as heavily as a seller saying "We have a deal".

well i'm going to give the new guy a pass this time, just probably won't deal with him again

luckily i found a nice trade partner for the MJD auto/patch last night, part of a deal that netted me an Eli Manning auto, so I guess I should thank the member instead

I dont think a neg is warranted. But thanks for naming the member. I keep a list of those who pull questionable tactics while B/S/T on here and it helps give me a heads up with who Im dealing with.

I see what you are saying. It's a situational thing really. But the way it was mapped out I would have not given that member a neg. But being that he/she is a new member I would be sure to let them understand that backing out is not something you do often or ever at all so don't get used to it.

An Ebay bid is a binding contract, whereas there is nothing on Blowout that I think is even comparable. I don't think I would hold anyone to a deal until it was posted either in a trade thread (like Hobby Insider) or through a trade manager (like SCF). I don't like the potential buyer's actions in this case, but without his having agreed clearly to a deal then I don't think a negative is warranted. I might add that person to my questionable traders' list, but without anything binding, in my opinion, he didn't actually back out of a deal.

I'm amazed, though, at the number of bad trader threads on this site. Very disappointing.

The reason for the # of bad trader threads is directly related to your/and others lax attitude on buyer back outs etc. Refusal for Negatives says its ok do it again.

I actually thought it would have to do with the bad traders not following through on their deals. I didn't realize that I'm somehow responsible for people ripping others off, so I appreciate you letting me know.

Again, show me where this buyer backed out of a deal. I'm looking for something beyond a comment or a PM - a thread directly related to the deal, or something in a trade manager format.

That's now how this site operates.

Please do not post transactions here

If the buyer and the seller came to terms on a deal via PMs, then they had a deal.

You're right, and I guess that they OP would have a right in this case to leave negative feedback.

My original comment has more to do with the fact that there is nothing here that seems very binding. It's certainly not comparable to an Ebay bid, or to a site where there's a clear trade posted to which both parties agree. I just thinking having such a public record would make it easier by taking out some of the grey area.

I do see your point, though. Under the Blowout rules, it does look like they had a deal.
