What do you do in this situation?

jsportscards made this thread a couple weeks ago

JPP Rookie Auto Lot FS!

After a week of having it on I PM'd him saying if he wanted $20 for it I'd take it. He sent me a PM back saying he wanted to hold out for a little more. Then on 11/1/12 he says new price.....$20 DLVD in which I respond in the thread and say I'll take it.

So I sent him a PM saying I posted in his thread and if they were available I'll take them and ask for paypal info.

He PM's me back with this message:
could u do 21 since paypal takes out

My response was:
I'm confused.....your thread asks if anyone wants it for $20 DLVD.

He responds with:
Well didn't think till i posted it, it basically would be 20 because paypal takes so much out for fees (really crappy IMHO, but whatever)

And I respond with:
I'm not going to finagle over a buck. LMK your paypal.

So four days go by with no response. Then yesterday he bumps his thread stating lot is sold and I reply that I'm still waiting on his paypal info so I can pay him. So I'm not sure if he found another buyer or what is going on but he hasn't responded to my PMs. Is this neg worthy?

No because money and/or goods were not exchanged. However, it is pretty crappy that the seller did what he did. Just move on, and try to avoid dealing with him in the future.

See I'm thinking at least neutral. He made an offer and I accepted - even after he jacked up his asking price. I thought a neutral for sure but wanted to get opinions first.

See this is my point. If you guys had similar situations, and had left neutral feedback I'd know not to waste my time. But if everyone just lets it go - doesn't the same kind of crap just keep happening to everyone else on the forum?

i'm in the minority here that thinks it's neg-worthy. you met his asking price (and then an extra buck) and he still went somewhere else with the cards.

never had a deal in place. just a lot of lowballing and wasting of time back and forth. can't exactly neutral for that.

i dont see that a deal was in place. at least not until he said they are yours and sends his payment addy. no feedback needed but maybe an add to the ignore list.

Every other board I belong to has a trade manager and one cannot leave feedback
unless a trade has been agreed to by both parties in the trade manager.

So maybe my perception of
"what an agreed transaction is" and "when to leave feedback"
is a little skewed.

I see you accepting the 21 but him not replying with a paypal.
Therefore while it appears the agreement was in place in principle,
it was not formally finalized, so no feedback should be being left by either party.

That doesnt change the fact that the guy was a jerk though.

Same here----no deal in place. All that happened there, was you learned about a member thats not worth dealing with. I always look at previous threads from certain members and then check itrader. That will tell you alot. FOR EXAMPLE----A member on here is always creating a new "please trade with me" thread---I've lost count on how many. I check itrader and see his last trade was 6 months ago. That tells me that he over-values his cards, under-values yours and is hard to deal with. Even if he has a card I would really like, I won't bother wasting any of my time to even try to deal with that member.

Technically: No deal in place
Morally: Deal in place in confidence but the seller is jerking the buyer.

Honestly, both are just as bad in my opinion. While there might be no deal in place because no transaction happend, its still the sellers fault for not following through whether the deal was re negged or paypal addy is given.

Either way I wouldnt deal with a douche like that. The extra $1 just another clear indication that you are dealing with a micro level seller who I wouldnt trust because "eveyrthing changes" to squeeze profits after stating a price.

Im with you. if someone offers me a card for a price it is expected that if you accept the offer, the card is yours. i can see if you wait a couple days to respond or something, but that doesnt seem to be the case. Definently neg worthy IMO. I would expect ot get a neg if I pulled this crap so thats wht I base MY opinion on.

This is one of the best statements I have seen in my days on this forum. Its sad that I can pay someone instantly and not get my cards for over a month and I cant even let other members know of my experience with the slow shipper because I want to keep my name and feedback in good light. Alot of sellers are slow shippers on here for one reason and one reason only. Because they can.

i agree. if retaliatory feedback was removed quickly (if at all) i think we'd see tons of members' true colors in their feedback.

Sounds like you are butt hurt and aching to retaliate over this.
I have ignored people in threads saying they will take something because I did not wish to sell to them or someone I liked said so after they did
My thread and I can change anything until we agree on something.
Same with him, he asked, you said no, end of it. No deal...
