aren't there still blue mail boxes set up around towns? I'm pretty sure that the PO will pick up anything the next business day by the times listed on them the next day of service, doesn't matter if you drop off on a sunday or a holiday.

I've been a mad shipper since xmas and a little before and everything is out in the mail in with in 24 hours after payment (unless a weekend but I'll still print and get things ready), and I work Full time and part time as well as all the personal stuff like everyone else out there. I get everything done either late at night or early in the AM before I leave for work.

2 guys on here I made a deal w/right before xmas (on 12/22 later at night), and I told them that I couldn't ship until the 26th, and they were cool, still paid then, and I managed to have the cards out in the mail before I left on the 23rd, and I think they both got the cards the day after christmas or the next.

I was against the OP for the early call out, until I saw some other posts and took my shipping methods into comparison.

If you're shipping stuff you sold on 12/22 now, you should be banned from selling. That's inexcusable.

well maybe not everyone has all this free time to ship and spend and hour + waiting in line. When its not holidays...i usually ship next day 2nd day for anyone here who thinks 4-5 business days is too long.. ever see on ebay where there is an option for handling time? can be 2-5 days... not everyone runs right out to ship a $4 card.

My Statement before wasnt reality it was an example I am shipping stuff from 12/26-1/2 today.

But here is how it could take that long:

12/22-Post office closed at 12.
12/23-SUNDAY CLOSED
12/24-Post office closed at 12.
12/25-XMAS CLOSED
12/26-BUSY
12/27- Ice Storm
12/28-Snow storm
12/29-Post office closed at 12
12/30-Sunday closed
12/31-Post office closed at 12.
1/1- New Years Closed.

Some of the most ignorant people i have ever seen have been on this site the reactions people give and just knowing some of you are 40+ yr old men is quite comical and disgusting that your that way. I dont sell cards for a living I do it for fun... some of you act like its life or death and alot of the "Professional" collectors that post the Dumbest stuff. Its real easy to sit behind the keyboard and flame people but then again isnt that how most of you got ripped off by Haiku...be nieve.

A snow storm has never stopped me from taking 2 seconds to tell my buyer that im going to be late sending out stuff.

The only issues I have had recently have been return mail. In which case I ponied up EMS and re shippped. Cost of doing business!!

Why are you still going to the post office to ship First-Class Mail envelopes??

(1) Print label from home.
(2) Put label on package.
(3) Place in mailbox.


Even if you feel the need to take things to the PO ... if your items are ready to go before you get there, can't you just drop them off without waiting in line?

Now I don't even have to go to the PO. I request a pickup whenever I have stuff to ship and my mail lady rings the door bell and grabs whatever I have to ship even if it's just small bubble mailers. They are having some sort of contest so she gets some sort of bonus based on the number of items picked up.
Plus the dog loves it when she comes because she brings him a treat.

See the thing is, you can tell your buyers what's going on. What are they gonna do? Just be up front.

We agreed to ship the next day. I didn't ship the next day. But I pm'd him stating this:

So versus just shipping the following day, I felt as though I owed it to him to let him know what was going on.

If you can't ship right away, keep your buyers in the loop. End of story.

To be fair to some people (and to be upfront I haven't read much of this thread - I just saw your post - so this doesn't necessarily apply to anyone)

I have sold thousands of items - as you can see by my feedback here, SCF, eBay or wherever you want to look.

I don't own a printer at home. Never wanted to buy one. I have taken every single one of those packages to the post office, and waited to watch them put the DC label on, so there are still those of us that waste time (which I admit it is) to hand it to someone at the PO.

Without reading any of this thread in detail my thoughts are this:

I've taken a few days over the past 2 weeks to send my final packages (holidays, work, weather etc...) BUT I've PM'd every buyer and let them know about any delays. It's really that simple for me.

Because if you take them they have to scan them in. If the carrier just picks them up they have a chance to miss 2 scans. I never do what you suggest(always physically walking in) and I sell as much as the next guy

I sent one thing on the 24th at 10am by physically dropping it off and it is still not there today 6 states away. Yet at least it shows scanned

I'm not a big-time seller, but I've sold probably 250 items on eBay, and another 30 or so on here, since October. I have never had the issue to which you refer. I guess it comes down to how much you feel you can trust your mail person and your PO.

I lol at all the accusations on here. How is in scamming if you send late? Is it wrong? Sure. Does better communication help? You bet. But it isn't scamming nor is it a payday loan (in most cases). I don't think MITM needs a $10 loan. I mean the issue with forums is there isn't really a DSR system like eBay. People (like me) can get away with not shipping within 24 hours on here. Not on forums. Maybe forums needs to have some sort of DSR system. I mean I have sent over 3 days late maybe 5% of all my deals (over 1200), all of them on forums. But with eBay you gotta find a way to ship same day/next day, so I only list on weeks I know I'll be free. I'll be honest, and if you want to attack me for it than sorry. But to say people should be banned and are scamming people for shipping late is just overreacting. I do think the OP kinda overreacted, you said with excuses you get worried... at least they are honest. which will have me even less worried, but with no communication I could see why.

Edit: I got two packages this week that took over a week to get here. Mail is a little slower.

Has nothing to do with trust. I love my carrier Maria. Great looking and some seet cans. Gave her a 50 dollar gift card to Carrabas for christmas for being my carrier. It is bout me wanting to give it to the employee.

Like I said I shipped a card on the 24th and it has not arrived yet. At least the buyer can see it was scanned in, However they are not required to do so if they just pick it up out of the box.

Tell my this... Why havent these sellers reponded to the guys PMs about tracking etc? The two together shows a complete disregard for their buyers. It should not be tolerated and should not be excused.
