Am I Wrong To Be Irritated?

To start I will say unless enough people tell me that I was wronged I will not say the buyers name.

Anyways, through messages I agreed to a deal on ebay, however, we agreed we would continue the conversation through blowout, as ebay does not permit you to sent paypal addresses. He said he had created an account, however it was awaiting activation. Anyways, fast-forward a few days, and I am getting considerable interest in the card, so I sent him a message saying taht if he still wanted it to please message me. Fast-forward 2 more days (to last night) and I still don't have a response, so I check and he has left feedback for people in the previous day. So I send him a message saying please tell me whether or not you're interested. He replied very quickly,
Dear qbkauctions,

so sorry about that, been away for 2 days (Keep in mind he had left feedback in the previous 24 hr.).

i had to buy some variation cards for 2012 topps chrome that wiped me out. so im gonna pass on this, tho i do appreciate everything, good luck!!

-chris
This bothered me, but i've done this before too so I dismissed it. However, today I saw that last night (the same night he said he was out of money) his account was activated, and he created a thread saying he had money and was looking to buy cards, I know he had at least $60, most probably more, and it was a $70 card.

I don't care so much that he chickened out of the deal, as I sold the card earlier today, however it bothers me that he lied his way out of deal. Am I wrong to be bothered by this?

You should mail him a chicken salad sandwich that you left out in the sun for a few hours.

bigzig 01-25-2013 11:35 PM

Sure doesn't make a very good first impression.
Sure doesn't make a very good first impression.
I know, and he seemed so polite through the first messages, but do you think this can be expected in the hobby.

SacGWYNN19 01-26-2013 12:53 AM

OP, go to Target. Buy a box of tissues. Use them.

jeg2315 01-26-2013 01:01 AM

You got dry humped.

It happens, but just a lesson to not hold cards for someone you don't know. Especially for these types of off-eBay deals.

oldgoldy97 01-26-2013 08:56 AM

If you had considerable interest in the card, then sell it to one of the other people who want it and move on.

underwood4 01-26-2013 12:33 PM

just lets you know only make deals with those with the money ready to go. nobody here is held accountable if they flake on you. maybe a little bashing in a thread but thats about it.

37Jetson 01-26-2013 12:41 PM

This gets my vote :)!

It seems like every hangnail suffered by board member is getting detailed these days in its own thread.

Like I said, I sold the card the day after he said he lost interest, it's just kind of irritating.

37Jetson 01-26-2013 01:05 PM

Then why was this thread worthy?
Like I said, I sold the card the day after he said he lost interest, it's just kind of irritating.
cstone72 01-26-2013 01:08 PM

yah, explain to me why this is thread worthy?

would love to know why you feel the need to air out my messages to you, and then, you sell the card and are still complaining???

i didnt want the card, sorry i didnt state that, i would rather fill out my topps chrome set than your card.

this makes you look very foolish, and for me, if people want to think im an donkey, thats your opinion.

mad over sports cards, wow!

Thommy 01-26-2013 01:37 PM

I take back what I said about him being polite through the messages :D.

Just trying to figure out if this is a regular occurrence in the hobby, or if this guy is just one of the irritating people you'd find in any hobby/line of business.

probably would have been better for you to not post anything, especially if you carry the attitude I've underlined and bolded.

So you agreed to buy it, then turns out you didn't want it, so you didn't pay? You're acting like the OP is in the wrong, and you think this thread makes him look foolish? Jesus Christ.

Like I previously posted I am in no way mad about the card, I'm just kinda pissed that you lied your way out of that deal.

37Jetson 01-26-2013 01:51 PM

I guess there was a point to this thread after all! What a nut.

Are you calling me a nut, or him a nut?

37Jetson 01-26-2013 01:57 PM

Definitely the buyer! Sorry for any confusion.

No, I have never agreed to buy anything and then backed out. I don't think you gave anyone the wrong impression of you, either.

Titled: what are you talking about?:
why did you write a message in my post saying not cool?

what the hell are you talking about.

i would prefer you dont write stuff like that, especially since i just got authorized to post, i dont need people thinking i dont trade properly.

what was the messsage about?
Titled: absolutely rude:
honestly man, why would you post something like that?

because i didnt buy a goddamn card from you?

take that crap down now.

uncalled for.
