Default Payment sent by paypal e-check?

Ok so I have been an ebay member for a while, only have around 50 transactions, but today I got this first in my email. Payment sent by e-check, check should clear between Feb 27th-March 1st. Do I wait until the check clears to ship or what?

Yep, wait until you get message saying funds are confirmed. I always love when someone never mentions anything about e-check prior to winning!!!

OP, no worries ... JDubs is right, you just wait the 5-7 business days or whatever until it clears, you will get an email from eBay when it does. I got paid by eCheck for the first time a couple weeks ago, of course at first I panicked a little but everything worked out.

Ha ha thanks appreciate the help. Yeah I just didn't want to be neg'd for waiting to send out the shipment. I assumed the guy sending the payment like this has done it before, but I just wanted to make sure.

just shoot your buyer a message to let them know you are waiting for the e check to clear before shipping and that it's standard practice. if they give you #@#@#@#@, just say that if you ship now and the check doesn't clear, you are screwed and you are operating under ebay policy.

Don't ask me how much I want to offer. Come with a price in mind. If I don't want it or think it's worth that, I will let you know.

Yea. I'd send him a polite message to him just letting him know you will ship as soon as it clears. It's possible he doesn't even know he sent an echeck. He may assume it was an instant transfer. It almost happened to me when I sent my first "pay from bank" before i had my debit card attatched.

Well fellas ill just throw my hat in the cage on this one...

I had an auction I won last week. Sent payment and noticed it was pending. Clicked the transaction it was sent an echeck when I had over 400 in pp and the transaction was for 28 bucks.

Not sure why but pp decided to pull money from my bank acct via echeck when I had 400+ pp balance so not all echecks are buyers trying to hose the seller

I don't really feel this is even necessary ... if you go into PayPal and try to ship before the e-Check clears, it still treats it as a pending payment, and you would essentially have to manually acknowledge received payment.

I figure guys that typically pay with e-Check have come to expect the delay.

TBH
If you had read your email it would have told you to not ship items until you have been notified that the funds have cleared.

People who complain, not saying you are, about echecks tend to confuse me.
Sometimes it's a "Right off the bat" deal on an auction, but more times than not, the item has been up for days. A sale is a sale. If I can wait 30 days or 7 days for an item to sell, I can wait 5 business days for an e-check to clear.
Maybe it is just me, I never have an issue. People who buy and wait 7 days to pay are no different in the time frame respect, but those people are kiting from pay-check to pay-check in my book and using me as a savings and loan. I would rather the e-check than the delinquent buyer myself

Same here. It was a default setting on a tablet via Paypal mobile. Can't see anywhere to change that and it wouldn't let me at the time. May not be the buyer's fault.

This exact thing has happened to me too. Never figured out why.

I've had it happen several times. Usually after several purchases in the same day/nite. Instant, Instant, Instant, E-Check, Instant, Instant, E-Check - All in the same nite. So now I just keep my credit card paid off and listed as default.

eh, it's just a courtesy. plus, as some have mentioned, buyers might not even be aware that they paid via echeck so this is a way to avoid an unnecessary ding on your DSRs by keeping the buyer in the loop.

It takes about a minute, and well worth it.
