THEN buyer mentions he needs card now for a "birthday present". Being a powerseller, deathly afraid of negative feedback, I offered another card of equal value for free even if the original card arrived in time. Baffling stuff. He seems to have good feedback too which is ridiculous.

Just curiosity, did you use DC? Either way getting bent out of shape within 2 business days is obviously uncalled for.

You are far from wrong if the buyer is complaining after 2 business days. I thank you for the heads up.

Not a problem. Thanks. The whole complaining after 2 biz days and telling me he needs it asap because of a birthday present seemed a little crazy. If anything, maybe let the seller know beforehand and spring for quicker delivery (even though my s/h was free)

If you need a gift (anything for that matter) asap, you shouldn't be buying online.

well, here's an update. im sick of this guy. we cancelled the transaction, i gave a full refund and told him to just keep the card (sold for $17, but my cost was $6)

now, can an ebay buyer leave feedback for a cancelled transaction?? i couldve sworn the answer was "NO", but when i clicked on leave feedback, it looked like I was able to do it for the buyer

Yes. He can still leave feedback. The only time a buyer is blocked is once they have been given an unpaid item strike.

I looked through his first few pages of feedback left for others, and he hasn't left a neg or neut in the last 90 days atleast. I'd keep an eye on your dsr stars though. If he dings them, report him for positive feedback with conflicting ratings.

He is also a seller, so if he dings you you would have a chance at getting him for malicious bidding too.

So I am assuming it's this auction?
Khris Davis 2011 Bowman Chrome Auto Ref 500 Free Shipping No Reserve | eBay

Ended 3/20 (Wednesday)
If he paid Wednesday then he was bitching because EBAY tells him it will arrive within 4 bisuness days.

You ship Thursday per you Handling time. He looks as Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday as when it should be received per Ebay.

So when did he pay? When did you ship?
If not within 1 day then just change your handling time.

If I paid on Wed and still had not received today I would just send a polite reminder if I did NOT have a tracking # in my paypal.

paid thursday, tracking number provided thursday, dropped over the weekend, 2 messages from him on Sunday and Monday already threatening dispute after 1-2 business days (Friday and technically Thurs). last i checked saturday was not a biz day.

its not necessarily a fraudulent buyer or anything. just a little over the top. not to mention, when i said we can just cancel the transation and he can keep the card for free, I received 4 messages after cancellation. literally 4 messages asking when he would get the refund. he got the refund 30 seconds after it was cancelled.

so, yeah, probably not a bad guy... just a pain. up to u whether u wanna deal with a buyer like that. for me, its not worth it over a low end card, which is why i just let him keep it for free and am choosing to not deal with him again

any way, no need to respond. issue resolved. thanks so much for the input, supporting and against.

By "dropped over the weekend" do you mean after hours saturday so it didn't get picked up till Monday? Still seems like an over reaction, but a little different story than what came across in the OP.

Again he jusmped the gun but if he paid Thursday and you "dropped over the weekend" must change your handling to 2 business days and he has no leg to stand on because then Monday would have been the 1st day of delivery and expected by Thursday.

good idea.. i thought that might affect my top rated powerseller status though if handling time was listed as 2 days
