Default What should i do here?

Purchased a lot from a member here. Member shipped within a decent frame of time and by fedex. While i was at work the package was dropped off by fedex, in the rain, no bag over it or anything, and is soaked. I have not opened it to see how the cards faired, but i already expect the worst. It was nothing crazy big, a $70 lot, but still its the principle.

Seller said that it was not insured but had a declared $70 value and obviously did not require signature confirmation (which i thought was protocol with fedex). Advice on what action i should take would be appreciated.

Do i fault the seller or should i fault fedex? If seller had used USPS i have an area the postman places packages when the weather is unfair.

Can you PM the seller first and find out how the cards are packaged on the inside? Find out if it's safe to open and assume cards are protected.

fault fedex. They actually have bags for that reason on the truck. They are suppose to wrap if left out. Geez my guy will wrap sale aids for reps and they are damage proof. I suspect the cards will be fine

Hopefully the seller at least put them in a penny sleeve and wrapped them up with cardboard or tape. I would email the seller and ask how he wrapped, as someone else mentioned. This is a serious FEDEX fail, hope you call them to complain.

Why are you asking us this question before you open the box? Not trying to be a dick but it seems pretty standard to inspect the contents first and proceed from there.

Unless the OP is just trying to cause more drama than necessary. What do you want us to say or do OP? Sue the hell out of fedex and neg the seller for not knowing it was going to rain and for fedex just leaving the package outside. That sounds like a good idea. Do the smart thing dont post dumb threads and open the package to see what happened to the cards if anything. And then proceed with handling the situation ON YOUR OWN. Its not for us to tell a grown man how to handle there on life. GEEZ

A) open the package.
B) IF its messed up contact FedEx.
C) seller did nothing wrong here.

Invest in a porch or overhang. Id open it and seen who knows if he team bagged them and sealed them you'll be fine.

Open the package first before making this thread. That's like making a thread that says:

Hey guys, so got a package in the mail, it's in my mailbox but man I have a feeling it is damaged. I am too scared to check, what do I do?

Doesn't Fed-ex insure up to 100$ for every package? You should be covered if they are damaged.

How in the world would this be the sellers fault? He has every right to choose which parcel service he wants to use...

well half the stuff was in the box in a bubble mailer and is fine.. Other half was in a blaster box in penny sleeves and got wet. I obviously did not think the seller should be at fault here i was just asking opinion.

For your, gingerscards to be all gun jumping when we have dealt fine in the past makes me question the.people i deal with here.

I will be handling it through fed ex. As was stated earlier they should have put it in a weather proof bag before just dropping it.

I guess Im just born a devils advocate. Tho it is not the sellers fault it is his responsibility to deal with fedex. When you buy online is it not the sellers responsibility to get the items to you in the condition you purchased them? How is this different then package being damaged thru USPS? My note to seller would be - Cards were left in the rain and got damaged. I assume you have insurance and therefore will need to file a claim. The OP cant even claim them because FedEx, USPS, and UPS ALL require the shipper to file the claim. He is the one who paid for insurance.

For once I agree with Brane. Not the seller's "fault" per se, but the onus should be on the seller to resolve the issue.

A:you are an idiot

The fact you mentioned the seller as a potential party at fault means Ignore B and see A.

Don't know why people are jumping on you for not opening it immediately. Could have contacted FedEx to see their protocol first, and perhaps opened it on the line.

No matter what, it is not the seller's fault. He can not control what a Fedex employee does or does not do. I am also sure he cannot control the weather......unless he has one of these:

It may not be the seller's fault, but it is the seller's responsibility to get on the horn with FedEx and get a resolution.

It's the same situation as if it had been damaged in transit.

I don't understand the need for the thread, but the buyer shouldn't be the one who has to contact FedEx.
