Default ebay member advice: chucky000003

So, this ebay member bought this item on Sunday evening:
2012 2013 Panini Elite Dwayne Wade Auto 49 49 eBay 1 1 Miami Heat | eBay

Description said payment due within 3 business days. I know that isn't enforceable so I send this message, yesterday morning:

Dear chucky000003,

Just a friendly reminder to send payment for this item ASAP.
Thanks-
Chris

I have not heard back from him so this a.m. I sent an invoice.

At what point do you all open a case against a nonpaying buyer? Am I jumping the gun or being unreasonable by expecting payment within this time frame?

Set your npb case to open in x number of days from auction end. That is what I do and I will close them prior to them opening as long as the buyer communicates with me. If they don't then I let it run it's course and they almost always pay before the deadline.

first off as soon as an auction ends i send an invoice. i include a message along the lines of"congrats on winning my card/item, hope you enjoy it, item is packed and ready to go upon payment. thanks!"

then in my auction i always state "payment is due within 96 hours (4days) of auction's end.

if 96 hours pass, i open a case, simple.
