Default MMA card help

Hey,

I'm the resident card collector at a newspaper and today on of our editors gave me 6 MMA cards a company sent us.

I was hoping someone could help me gauge if they have any value.

I would post photos but I don't seem to have that ability at the moment.

The 6 cards include:
Tito Ortiz
Georges St-Pierre
Anderson Silva
Rhonda Rousey
Jon Jones
and
Don Drye

They appear to be from a company or group called Profile Geek.

Each card features a couple of photos of the fighter on the front, another on the back as well as their weight, record and some interesting facts of each.

They have a retro style, look rather sharp and appear to be well made.

So, has anyone heard of these? I have tried to find some information but keep reaching dead ends so I thought I would go to people in the know here.

Thanks in advance.

judging from the lineup i think they may be new promotional cards or something like that? having Rousey included makes me think they were made in 2012 or 2013 .. is the last name Don Frye? would be cool to see some photos once you can post them.

New to photbucket and all of that but here is a link to the account I just created.

Let me know if they don't show up.

They are nice but they are definitely unauthorized!
And they were obviously created very recently, as in the past 3 weeks since it lists Rousey with 7 wins.
They are no different than any of the other unlicensed cards out there but I imagine you will get something for the Rousey since shes very popular.

Probably just a promo item they did up to pass out.

Yep unlicensed, although with the exception of the MMA in the bottom left corner I gotta say I kinda like the design.

Nice design, but appears to be an unauthorized/unlincensed.

Why is Tito in the set? he has barely won a fight since 2006. Would be a neat set if it wasn't for Tito being in it.

Don Frye cracks me up.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I kind of like the design as well.

When I get to work today I'll see if there was any paper work that came with them to see what they are marketing. I've never heard of Profile Geek and it appears Google hasn't either.

Beats me.

Cool design they remind me of some of the older Topps foobtall/baseball sets. Neat oddball item if your ever interested in trading them please let me know.

Did the Profile Geek company send a press release?

or did they include info how to buy the cards?

I'll have to check when I get to work in a couple of hours.

The editor that gave them to me just walked up and handed me the cards. He didn't mention any press release but I'm sure one came with them. I just hope he didn't already throw it in recycling.

I figured I would be able to find out something on my own but so far no luck.

Well the information has been thrown out but from what he remembered, it's a guy that is trying to get a card company off the ground that incorporates the web with card collecting.

That is all I know at this point.

Just a guess, but the cards could be related to Geek A Week website: (cards of celebrities)
