Default Ultimate Fighting Championship's next target: Cowboys Stadium

Ultimate Fighting Championship's next target: Cowboys Stadium

Mark Francescutti/Sports Editor
Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White has had discussions with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on bringing mixed-martial arts to Cowboys Stadium -- which White calls the nicest stadium he's ever seen.

"I would love to do a fight there," White told the Orange County Register. "And I'm Mr. Anti-Stadium. Now that I experienced that (expletive) place, let me tell you what, it's incredible. It's incredible. The nicest stadium I have seen in my entire life."

White was wowed when he saw the recent Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight at Cowboys Stadium and the potential for the UFC to do an event there.

"Not only was it a legit crowd, it was a different crowd other than boxing," White told the Register. "When I walked in that place, I got (expletive) mobbed. It was all young people and people that like UFC and it was a good crowd. My take on that is people love Pacquiao, man. As far as I'm concerned, Pacquiao is boxing. That guy, you show up and you want to see a fight, Pacquiao is the man. "

The first Ultimate Fighting Championship card in Dallas was held at American Airlines Center on Sept. 19. It sold out and the announced attendance was 17,428 fans. It produced an estimated live gate of $2.4 million.

A UFC event -- usually held on Saturdays -- would likely have to be held when the Cowboys are on the road or before the season starts.
