Leaf MMA Will it be a hit?

I'm an avid MMA card collector even though I stayed away from Topps UFC 4 except for 1 box. Thinking about getting a case of Leaf MMA. Curious to know if anyone else will be busting this? I think the product has a lot of potential with 1 auto/pack and big hits like dual and quad autos. Considering it's hobby only and limited to 599 cases you have decent odds of getting a high $ hit unlike the 1,000s of cases Topps produced. Any thoughts on this product fellow MMA fans?

I don't mind Topps UFC cards. They are getting outplayed though. I will always buy any mma cards that come out though. So even though I don't really want to spend $130 on a box of cards that probably won't be collected, I more than likely will.

I beg to differ. Topps is still going to be better than the Leaf MMA. Don't get me wrong Fedor and Lesnar are in the Leaf but that is about it. The last set of Topps UFC cards are amazing. I also like how Topps is coming out with a higher end set as well.

Not only are just about ALL of the big UFC names in it like Lesnar, GSP, A. Silva, Jon Jones, Velasquez, Liddell... etc. There are big names from other organizations outside UFC like Jose Aldo, Jake Shields, Ben Henderson, Gina Carano, King Mo Lawal. Many up and coming fighters as well as old school fighters like Bob Sapp and Kevin Randleman. Then there are dual and quad autos some of which are insane. What would a quad Auto of GSP, A. Silva, Brock, and Fedor fetch? And you actually have a realistic chance of a big hit since it is only 599 hobby cases - no retail (I confirmed this with the president of Leaf myself last week via email). Not like Topps series 4 which probably has 3 - 4,000 hobby cases floating around and tons of retail. Thus the reason the product has tanked. Leaf MMA is going to be HUGE!! You heard it here first. Don't get me wrong I'm definitely busting UFC Knockout but that doesn't come out until December. Topps UFC 4 is junk unless you get really lucky....

i think the whole mma ,ufc trading cards are way to watered down.its gonna be the same guys everytime they come out .so how much can these cards be worth if
there are over 10,000 autos of the same dude,they are over doing it i think.

Seems to be just as many wothless filler auto's in this product as in topps.... disappointing to say the least.
I'll try to snag a Fedor auto and Frank Shamrock auto out of this stuff, but other than that no interest. Certainly not for $120 for an 8 pack box.

I dont see how Topps has filler autos when the boxes have ranged 40-60. In 6 boxes I pulled, Cain, jon jones, tito, frankie edgar, dos santos, rashad. My worst autos were anthony johnson and Clay Guida and I like Guida.

Also Leaf is giving you 8 autos so that's roughly around $14 an auto which isn't too bad since you can pull good ones

no different then any other sport. tons of mj , gretzky , bobby or , etc.etc. autos out there

UFC 4 is ehh, but i do like the look of the base auto. Im looking forward to the Triple Thread version of UFC later in the winter. that stuff looks amazing

Very good point with players of that magnitude there will always be a market. Jordan is the worst his autos are crazy expensive. Every once in awhile if you are patient a Orr or Gretzky auto will pop up for 85-120ish.

You're comparing apples to oranges. The baseball card collector has been around for a # of years and all of the major sports, have a fan following. MMA cards have been out for what? 2 years, going on three? The fact that the prices are as steady as they have been is shocking to say the least. I expected to see what happend to UFC series 4 Boxes to happen to the individual cards. So if you want to talk high end to low end then here:

Micheal Jordan:
High:US $50,000.00
Low:US $439.95

Bobby Orr:
High:US $5,500.00
Low:US $119.95

Gretzky:
High:US $2,999.99
Low:US $39.00 (psa/dna card) US $174.99 (insert auto)


Lesnar:
High:US $73.99 (and this isn't even the series 4 card, this one's cheaper)
Low:US $179.99

So realistically, the gap in between your cards and the UFC cards is insane. Yours differs in the thousands while the UFC cards differ in the hundreds. So going by "cheap auto" there are hundreds of Gretzky, Orr, and Jordans that are "cheap" compared to the higher end.

Wow, you're just sort of rude. Some people don't collect cards to resell. Some people are happy to just collect all the cards. Prices don't really matter all that much.

Yeah, these are the first posts I've seen from him. Not impressive to say the least. If he's so darn mad at the world then maybe he needs to seek help. There's no reason to act the way he did in here. IMO anyway.

Dont get me wrong, I think topps is a great value for the money. 4 hits for $45-50 a box is great and all, but I'd say any auto's you can buy for cheaper than the price of a single pack is a filler auto. That describes over half of the 70 regular UFC autos from series 4, and 13 of the 16 Ultimate fighter autos. I see the same happening with the Leaf MMA. You will be able to snag more than half of the regular autos for much less than $14 a piece.
