Default THE NATIONAL.. just around the corner!!

I am making another NATIONAL thread because I am really excited to go to my first national. I have never went to one before, but this time its in Cleveland and its only an hour drive for me to the IX center. Started saving already and I hear the autograph pavilion signers will be realeased in March. Share some thoughts about what you think of the national in Cleveland.

VIP tickets should come with Kevlar vests and penicillin. That is all.

I'm going anyway.

I don't remember. I'm sure you can google the 2013 National and see what they were.

To anybody who goes, Could you please be on the lookout for any 2012 Leaf Vince Lombardi Legacy Collection Cards? Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to go and just want to ask to those who are attending.

Anyone setting up and care to share via PM how you did?? I'm seriously considering setting up this year and have had an offer from someone to set up with them at $600 for an 8ft table. Seems kinda steep, but would like to know how some of you small-mid size dealers have done...

That was a tremendously bad attempt at humor....unless you were serious and then you are just absolutely clueless.

Ever been to Cleveland? I have been. A lot.

Should I post national crime statistics showing the cities ranking? Yes, my tongue in cheek comment was made to indicate the city has a reputation of being unsafe (kevlar) and dirty (penicillin). Something tells me you're a homer who is defending it blindly. Anyone who has been there would know both adjectives are correct.

This is going to be my 2nd National (both in Cleveland), 1st time setting up as a dealer.

My first trip required neither Kevlar nor anti-biotics, and was actually pretty nice. Came in Thursday morning, did 5-6 hours at the show. Went to an Indians game with my buddy and hit up some local bars later on that night. Did another 4-5 hours at the show on Friday & went to the Rock & Roll HOF before heading home.

This trip will be a little different, as it'll be business (mostly). I have a 10x15 booth that I'm 90% sure I'll fill up. I will have a MUCH better idea of what I have in a couple months (moving soon, cant exactly spend a lot of time with cards).

I may be looking to split my booth with someone if I feel I cant put a top notch 10x15 together. If you're serious about setting up, I might be able to help you out.

Keeping it classy.

Of course the fact of where the IX Center is (and where most people would stay - maybe off like West 150th to be close to the show) isn't mentioned by you - because it's the exact same as someone just hanging out in East Cleveland for fun.

Cleveland is just like any other major City in the Country. Pay attention to where you are and you'll be fine. You wouldn't roam around Chicago, NYC, or Baltimore (as another place that hosts the National) without knowing where you are. Don't do it in Cleveland either. Know the area? There are a million awesome places in Cleveland to go that are perfectly safe just like everywhere else.

Greater Cleveland Metro is HUGE. Those "crime stats" would have to be put into context.

It's easier to blindly hate however.

National = waste of
time n money

If you think ebay is
high don't even think
about buying at natty.
Prices are insane and
Dealers are in general
very unprofessional and
downright rude.

I am a "homer" but certainly not defending it blindly. Yes, Cleveland has issues, but you seem to be clueless as to the lay out of the city....You see, the IX center is basically bordering the small town of Berea, and it is no way an unsafe part of Cleveland. Look at all the stats you want, but please, prior to making baseless and classless comments, do your research, that way you can hold back your moronic comments.

That's not fun though. It's easier to just throw out crime stats without any context. I assume all tourists with just listen to a Bone Thugs album before they head to the National and look for places to stay on those cross streets that they rap about? No?

So true. I usually do not get offended too easily, but I live maybe 10 minutes from the IX center and it bothers me when someone just wants to make a broad generalization about things that they obviously know nothing about.
