Lock and load fellas!

Andrew Jones 07-21-2011 02:11 PM

Given a couple of recent US Supreme Court cases, BO is fighting an uphill battle on this one.

mwheeler27 07-21-2011 02:17 PM

Uphill battles can be won.

hanes1111 07-21-2011 02:22 PM

^^^^^^^^^^good point and i agree

jp98 07-21-2011 02:24 PM

If Casey Anthony wasn't guilty, I think it is possible to win anything.

Not sure what you are trying to say here. Can you speak in plain English for me? I am not so smart. :o

Tyler 07-21-2011 02:32 PM

Just another fine notch in Upper Deck's belt.

Frankp2311 07-21-2011 02:34 PM

Lets say BO wins. What happens to paninis program?

cmnkb8 07-21-2011 02:34 PM

~Does this mean that I'm not getting the redemption replacement that I requested a year ago? ~

ramsey13 07-21-2011 02:37 PM

Did I read that right????? UD after all the trouble they have been in with "DECIETFUL PRACTICES" will not take care of a warranty issue unless I can prove I bought it from an "Authorized Dealer"??
Never buying there cards again. Not Wax, Not Blasters, Not Singles, Not a thing.
GOOD JOB UD

bradical 07-21-2011 02:40 PM

While I see UD as more of a Oligopoly than a Monopoly, I think they have the free will to use their market power cooperatively through collusion, price leadership, or indirect means of supporting prices above competitive levels.

golferphil 07-21-2011 02:41 PM

I wondered how long it would take one of the online only stores to do this. IMO the card companies idea of "saving" the LCS is just silly. The world is always changing and trying to force a method of delivery on the public it just backwards thinking. They really need to find a way to embrace the change and make it work to their advantage...

Friarg 07-21-2011 02:43 PM

That's it, I've made up my mind....I'M ONLY BUYING FROM BO FROM NOW ON!! These dudes have stones! Win one for all the impoverished, addicted collectors out there that just can't stop busting wax!
says the guy with the UD Griffey as their avatar :)
lol, too true. UD signed Griffey to an exclusive autograph contract ages ago - I've had a love/hate relationship with them ever since. I have a whole box full of expired Griffey redemptions to look at if I ever start liking them again.

Definition of a monopoly
When a specific individual or an enterprise has sufficient control over a particular product or service to determine significantly the terms on which other individuals shall have access to it.
Part 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act
Every person who shall monopolize, or attempt to monopolize, or combine or conspire with any other person or persons, to monopolize any part of the trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, shall be deemed guilty of a felony
I don't see how UD can win

Was that in your best Eric Cartman voice? Cause that's what I pictured!

I doubt this would ever make it to the supreme court.

I know this is an Upper Deck post, and eff them for their ridiculous distribution policy but based on the above definition, shouldn't Topps be getting sued right now for cornering the market on licensed baseball cards?

Guess what's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander...
