upper deck needs to fight teeth and nails to keep their player exclusives and win back their licenses. no company is as innovative as them and can put out such aesthetically beautiful cards. panini can and never be able to put out a product like exquisite...imo national treasures is a high end travesty...

Upper Deck let their success go to their heads and started churning out below average products with horrible QC and and even worse customer service/appreciation (save for the high rollers) over the latter Half of the Decade. If there was ever an example of how not to run a company it would be Upper Deck. Since losing the licenses, the products are that much worse...yet they keep churning them out, with the same price tag.
This company will never see a dime from me.

Bo Jackson has already been done. He was included in Series B in 2008.
I would love to see Chipper Jones once he's done playing as that happens to be my wife's favorite player. Including her in my collecting efforts is always a positive.

I love the on card autos... No redemptions and the mix of Athletes...
Box topper thing is very cool and adds value also.. But the product does need to make some small changes to add value... IMO The base and minis are always great... There is just no huge value to them... I would love to see dual triple autos.... Jumbo logo patches? I also love the idea of the painting cards... Will they be inserts or will all the base cards be paintings like goodwin presidents? Making them chase cards like in goodwin would help a ton..... The people who love the product will always love it no matter what.... But the majority are bothered as i can tell on this site... When you pay 60-70 dollars for a pack and you get 2 jersey cards and a auto of a body builder... To bring it to the masses added value is needed... But my guess it is made this way for the hard core sports king collector and not for the masses.... which is fine also..

There aren't many products where you can list base cards individually and get as much as SK base cards bring. Some of them sell well over $20 and higher each time they are offered for sale. This is attributed in part to how limited they are.
I think it might be difficult to bring a limited product such as SK to the masses. There simply isn't enough of it to go around. However, I personally would love to see it in Wal-Mart and Target one day. Dr. Price keeps saying SK E won't disappoint. I believe him. I think it's going to be great, and I think a lot more people are going to want to buy both singles and sealed product.

I have put a lot of thought in this list. If you want to hit a home run with SK Series E, sign half the 30 players on this list along with your current names mentioned above and you will have one... (some of these may have already been in the other series, so exclude them if so, and I know a couple are exclusive to another company, but those contracts stand to end soon). Baseball Hank Aaron Willie Mays Sandy Koufax Rickey Henderson Frank Thomas Cal Ripken Jr. Geroge Brett Football Brett Favre Bill Belichick Terry Bradshaw Marshall Faulk Eric Dickerson Basketball Charles Barkley Allen Iverson Julius Erving Scottie Pippen Phil Jackson Patrick Ewing Shaquille O'Neal Hockey Gordie Howe Wayne Gretzky Horse Racing (Jockey) Pat Day Soccer Hope Solo Swimming Michael Phelps Wrestling Rick Flair Sting Boxing Evander Holyfield Golf Chi Chi Rodriguez MMA Brock Lesnar Chuck Liddell

Thanks guru, appreciate the time you put into this list.
A couple of quick comments. Some athletes in this list have exclusives and we can't get them yet, others have said "no" to us over the past four years. Probably because we don't need thousands of autographs like the larger card companies. I will work hard to try and get some of the ones that don't fit into the two categories I mentioned above. Go get em Dr. Price! SK E will most likely be my first case break. Looking forward to the release. If you could slip in a Bruce Lee cut auto in this series that would be amazing. What a chase card!

I apologize that this thread became a Sportkings thread and its intentions was to announce that Ken Griffey Jr. signed with Topps.
I just wanted to point out that we signed him first and then things got carried away. I am opening a thread in the Non-Sports Discussion area about Series E where I can hear collectors thoughts and respond to any questions I can answer at this time. Sorry Topps. Brian Price |
