unfortunately beckett still influences sell prices in a lot of circumstances, even if it's just as a reference people are willing to pay a certain percentage of.

you're saying a lot less boxes are going to be opened decreasing the supply of singles. presumably that is not what panini has in mind. if they are willing to drastically cut production runs this could work, otherwise they will be stuck with a lot of product.

I'm sick and tired of people saying that Beckett has no influence on card sales. They still have a huge impact. I am a collector, most of the people I trade with consider Beckett as a reasonable GUIDE when considering values. That doesn't mean that Beckett is the GOD of card value. Most reasonable traders I deal with consider both Beckett value and market value and come up with a reasonable comprimise. Even though it's a trade and not a sale, traders want to make sure they are getting a reasonable value, just in case they decide to sell some of the cards they traded for. As far as Paninni, and their new plan to fix prices, they will sink like the Titanic if they start trying to control the market and don't leave the final decision on VALUE up to the customer. Like someone else said, if they have a dud product, it will just gather dust on hobby store shelves. When the market is able to adjust according to the consumers needs, it is a good thing. Paninni seems to be saying, "we don't care what you think it is worth, this is the price".
