Don't knock it unless you've been there. While all the stats involving crime, murder rate, etc. are legit, it's isolated to certain parts of the city which are very easily avoided. The Inner Harbor and surrounding areas are wonderful tourist attractions - not to mention the ballpark and the improving Orioles (now up 8-0 and about to take 2 of 3 against this year's bandwagon favorite - the Cubs).

I like Baltimore in November, its one of the best fall cities in America. Like where I live NEPA, I don't think you want to be around Dec-March.

Got to agree with zammos...the Inner Harbor is a great area. I spent a week there and had a blast with all the sites in the area. You just have to be aware of what areas to stay out of...the same can be said of any city.

I just came back from a long weekend at the Inner Harbor. It is great. You go a few blocks out and you could be in trouble. If anyone is within a few hours of the Inner Harbor you have to go. It was my son's first trip there and he wants to go right back! If you have kids go to the Port Discovery children's museum. There is a 3 story jungle gym in the middle of the building that my son played in for 2 hours.

A bunch of us firefighters from the Northeast go to Baltimore every year for the Firehouse Expo at the convention center. It is the most looked forward to event that we do. The inner harbor is a great time, except most of the time we never make it past the Downtown Sports Exchange, or DSX as it is affectionately called.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be back in Cleveland in 2009. They are not going to do the west coast year from what I have heard.
