Topps Red Hot Rookie #5 Is...


Topps today announced the player redeemable for the 2008 Topps Baseball Series 2 Red Hot Rookie Redemption #5 is Mike Aviles of the Kansas City Royals.

Aviles, a 27-year-old shortstop, was ripping up the PCL before his call-up to the majors. He's got some power (as evidenced by his 17 bombs last season) but it's his consistency at the plate that makes him especially dangerous.

Throughout the remainder of the 2008 Major League Baseball season, Topps will announce the subjects for the 20-card Red Hot Rookie program.

The cards will be printed on Topps Chrome Refractor technology and shipped to collectors first week of November.
