I am trying to get the base set but I tell ya ....the past 2-3 days you're lucky to get one under $20 with some going over $100 (auction style). This is going to be one of those sets that will take me for ever to get the 48 total.

Still, I got "D-Day" which was my main goal since it goes with my America at War - Band of Brothers collection.

Tim, are you listing the base cards on feebay or are you keeping a master set?
I am actually selling the master set on feebay (and just raised the price based on this thread, lol). I did a 10-box case when it first came out and have been selling those base as well in fixed price - sold three so far for $65 each; I just didn't see the point in selling them for less and am now glad I held them at that price point.

I dunno about the master set at that price, but these things HAVE been all over the place. I would never have expected any base card to go for more than $100 let alone $150 this early in the game. Now I am just hoping to catch a silly seller who lists base cards for $9.99 BIN...

Rommel, JFK, Castro, Jimmy Carter, Margaret Thatcher, Schwarzkopf, Saddam Hussein, Rumsfeld, Nimitz, Pershing, Audie Murphy, Mussolini, "Monty" Montgomery, de Gaulle, Truman, Kissinger, Goering, Bradley, Doolittle, Yogi Berra, Sherman ... and many more still to go.

Remember, there is a big auto in every 10 pack case, and a bigger one in every 40 pack case. We have seen less than 10% of the cards on ebay.

I am glad Jimmy Carter wasn't my "big" hit.

Question:

If there's only 1600 boxes/packs produced, and each base card (48 of them) is numbered to 40, that is 1920 boxes/packs, not 1600.....

What am I missing?

Each 10-box case has two sealed packs containing two base cards. So each master case has 8 sealed packs, which complete the 48-card base set.

There are 40 of each of the 40 main base cards - 1600 total. The extra 8 "high number" cards in the set are case toppers, I believe.

EDIT: Tim beat me to it as I was typing.

Just noticed Sammy Davis Jr. is on Ebay.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-FF-HORR...item2566e94db9

Correct, 1600 sealed packs containing 1 base card and 1 auto. The remaining 8 base cards are in case topper packs containing ONLY the single base cards.

Yah, so far I have also seen Mountbatten (pulled really early but listed with wayyyy too high of a starting price):

Mountbatten of Burma on Ebay

Terrible. Churchill is to British history as FDR is to US history.

I couldn't believe it. I meant to put a bid in myself - kicked myself in the ass for missing that one.
